   Really nice Italian restaurant. We did not book but despite having a large party there they accommodated us. Service was good, quick and plenty to choose from. Food was excellent. Lovely little restaurant with good food and value for money.

   We have dined at the Papillon restaurant on many occasions and always enjoyed the delicious food and service. Nino and his staff are very friendly and attentive and always goes the extra mile to make sure that we are happy! Last night’s birthday celebrations for my wife and Granddaughter went off extremely well and would thoroughly recommend the Papillon restaurant Chigwell.

   As always food is fresh, well presented and well cooked as expected from a high standard restaurant. Waiters always pay attention to the tables when passing. Very good atmosphere. Summer air con is always On, winter heating In, always a pleasant temperature.

   This was my second visit to the restaurant after its refurbishment, and the fresh new look was quite appealing. Surprisingly, despite its popularity in the neighborhood, it wasn't very busy during my visit. I was there with friends and we had a lovely time catching up. The host was gracious, allowing us to enjoy our evening without feeling rushed. We sampled a variety of food and drinks, but unfortunately, the quality of the dishes didn't meet my expectations. The tempura prawns seemed frozen, lacking freshness, while the carpaccio was warm and under-seasoned. The presentation of the parmigiana could have been better. The main courses were equally disappointing: the monkfish was excessively salty and overcooked, the spaghetti bolognese sauce was heavy, and the chicken was burnt on the outside. The lamb chops were decent, but not exceptional. Dessert was passable, although it could have been more artfully presented. On a positive note, the hospitality was delightful, and the host added to the enjoyment of the evening.

   Nice little place, very clean and that's all. Unfortunately, the service is very poor. I tried to call the waiter couple of times, but he pretended to no hear me. As a starter, I had a very good plate of Calamari and enjoyed but as the main, I ordered a Margherita, no word of a lie was terrible. The amount of cheese and oil on it was unbelievable. I had two pieces and after that, I started to feel sick so I couldn't eat anymore. Price was reasonable for what we had. I suggest improving more on pizzas and especially on employees. At moment, unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place. Sorry.

   Sadly food was not as good as previous times, especially the desert. It was like it was slapped on a plate, and the plate was freezing cold. Also, had to ask many times for our desert and bill to the brought to the table. Sadly very disappointing as it was a 60th celebration.

   Starters were nice (mussels and calamari). Main course of prawns; the veg was dumped on the plate, you could tell it had been cooked for a second time. Other main course of fillet steak which was £40; asked for medium/well but was over cooked, veg dumped again. Other tables had veg served in terrines but could tell they were regular customers. To top it off - the same songs were played around 4 times in the space of 90 minutes and a group came in with their 2 dogs. Total bill for 2 of us was £105. Would rather have donated the money to charity...

   The food was just amazing! Really good value, wine reasonably priced and not bad service. Doesn’t have much ‘kerb appeal’, but would definitely recommend! There was a little confusion over our drinks order, but it was soon sorted out. I would definitely go back.
