Food was incredible! I would 100% recommend the tempura prawn sushi as it was gorgeous! Extremely good value for money, beautiful authentic food!
I am a big fan of Japanese food, and this place is super. I travel to Japan a lot, and the food here is really tasty and authentic, at incredibly reasonable prices. I love the tempura and donburi dishes, especially the veg tempura, prawn tempura, and gyudon (beef and onion with gravy on rice). Some of my favourite dishes, impeccably prepared. Great value, with very friendly staff. Some of the best Japanese food I gave had outside Japan!
It is not easy to have genuine Japanese Food in UK. Hamayuu is one of them. The only comment is the busy hour. If you walk in at busy hour, it is unlikely to get a table unless you book before. And, I only saw three staffs handling all the work including the cook. It is a bit tight. They are trying their very best already serving the customers.
Delicious Japanese food! I had the pork katsu don, the pork was crispy, the egg silky and the sauce was flavourful and savoury. Staff were friendly and efficient. Overall, authentic, tasty dishes and a wide range of options guarantees at least an 8/10, not the best I’ve had but definitely up there! :D
Excellent Japanese restaurant. Went here kids, the service was excellent- friendly and helpful staff. Food was amazing, authentic flavours and great portion sizes. Prices were reasonable.
Really excellent dining experience. Restaurant itself had a very busy, lively Atmosphere. Food was incredible with an extensive menu and I was able to try things I'd never had before. I especially enjoyed the Eel! Staff were attentive and helpful. Will definitely be back!
Delicious authentic Japanese cuisine. The food is served very fresh and the atmosphere is very comfortable. The service from the staff was amazing. Highly recommend. I would recommend booking a table because it is very busy here.
I've never been to Japan but if this is what authentic Japanese food is then sign me up! This makes me want to visit Japan more than ever. The food really is out of this world. It's so fresh and so delicious. The presentation is beautiful - an art in itself! I keep bringing different people to Hamayuu because I just want any excuse to go. The prices are very affordable and you get a good amount. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They even gave me an origami swan which now sits proudly on my desk. Hamayuu truly is a home from home. This is my new favourite restaurant in Chester. It is a must-visit - I always come out of there feeling so happy!
Very disappointed with the sushi. Rice was way too overcooked, starchy and mushy. The fish was amateurishly cut and clearly not fresh with how pungent it was. Overall it was like having mouthfuls of a fishy rice pudding. Might try them again another time and give their hot dishes a go in case that's more their forte. Loved the atmosphere and aesthetics of the place though and certainly worth checking out for that alone. Excellent sake and Japanese whisky selection.
Incredible! The food tastes exactly like it did in Japan when I visited! The owner was lovely and the other staff were great. Would 100% recommend if you want authentic Japanese food!
