Excellent dining experience! We had such a lovely time at Sushi Shimai. The food was fresh, delicious, comforting, and made with care — the kind of sushi you really enjoy without any fuss, just good flavors and quality ingredients. What truly made our visit special was the lady who served us. She was so kind, attentive, and welcoming, and made us feel genuinely looked after from the moment we sat down. Her warmth added so much to the experience and turned a great meal into a memorable one. A cozy, feel-good spot for delicious sushi and wonderful service. We’ll definitely be back.

Visited for the 1st time during lunch and I enjoyed my duck sushi although I’m not a sushi fan. Service was amazing, as I have specific dietary requirements and the waiter was happy to help me find the right sort of items. Also ordered the beef soba noodles and they were very tasty. The price was definitely a bargain for what was ordered! Will be back again when I’m next in the area!!

We booked a table for 5 and started placing our order, but the paper was returned with some items circled — the staff said we had ordered too much food and that those dishes would only come in a second round. Because of that, we didn’t really do a proper second round, just one sashimi. To make things worse, our soup came with two pieces of plastic in it, which we only noticed after our 7-year-old daughter had already eaten half. The staff were polite and offered ice cream at the end, but the overall experience was disappointing. For £26.50 per person, I don’t think it’s fair for the staff to decide which dishes we can have or not. We made our choices, but they decided for us — the circled items never came. Sadly, it didn’t feel like good value or good service.

I had dinner here with my family and was glad I had booked a table in advance, as it was quite busy. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The tempura was tasty, but we didn’t enjoy the sushi as much. The rice was served warm instead of cold, and the portions were too large compared to the sashimi. The squid also felt very slimy. The roll also didn’t taste authentic. However, the fried oyster and chicken were absolutely delicious. Overall, I would recommend the fried dishes rather than the sushi.

I was surprised by the good quality of the sushi (despite being all-you-can-eat). The stuff was lovely. It’s BYOB with a £8 corkage fee (we brought 4 bottles). I’d definitely recommend and go back again.

Very small/cosy restaurant with lower ground seatings available as well Bring your own drinks/booze, prebooking is advised due to capacity Sushi and sashimi are fresh, cook to order which is nice and fresh The staff were good and friendly, However, you can only order 6 items every 15 minutes and the food takes a while to come and they don't give back your order sheet till you ask for it again...feels like they delibrilately trying to slow down your orders... Overall the food are fresh and delicious but expect delays. The price for the buffet is on point. Would recommend if you're craving sushi

Really good, inexpensive All You Can Eat Sushi! Very fresh and tasty - fish melted in mouth and rice was perfectly nutty and slightly warm. Back a second week in a row as it was so good! Debbie the waitress was great! 50% a la carte lunch too! Only bad thing is they won’t allow AYCE if you’re alone.

Newly opened Japanese restaurant with good quality sushi buffet with a wide range on a la cart menu. Definitely a money worthy buffet. Food came out quick with surprisingly big portions even for buffet menu. Great service and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommend this place, similar to sushi mania and sushi cafe. Suggest a little back ground music would be nice, other then that we had a great meal. Will be revisiting!
