Dined here last week for a Christmas lunch a party of four, the food was lovely (but very expensive) but the attitude of the manager was an utter disgrace. She has worked there for years and is usually friendly but she was obviously stressed and was extremely rude to me when i told her how long I had waited (an hour), she stormed over to the table and she corrected me and said it was actually 38 minutes (having looked at my dining companion’s order receipt - not mine), I had ordered separately and waited longer perhaps 45 minutes. I may have over estimated the wait for food but whether it was an hour or 45 minutes we shouldn’t have to wait that long she spoke to us all in a rude aggressive manner and we even said to her how rude she was and she just flounced off without an apology at all for the long wait.

It was busier than I expected, but staff still found time to be friendly and helpful, we arrived and was shown to a table, then asked to check what we would like then order at the counter, which was fine, no rush. The drinks arrived first after about 10 minutes brought be a member of staff, again pleasant and friendly. What was a surprise was the 'robot' that delivered our food, it was quite comical to see as the staff followed it and put the food on our table. We ordered a breakfast andit was delicious, all the usual suspects in the plate and a rather delicious hash brown, crunchy on the outside and soft inside. All in all a lovely experience

One of the worst meals I’ve ever been served in a restaurant — and shockingly overpriced. I visited the Housing Units restaurant on 29 November 2025 and ordered the Classic Wickentree Burger with cheese. What arrived was honestly appalling. When I lifted the bun, the burger patty looked grey, rubbery, and barely cooked, with a texture that reminded me more of a microwaved school dinner than a £22 meal. The cheese wasn’t melted but just a gloopy, cold lump sliding off the side. It was genuinely inedible, and I couldn’t believe a kitchen would send out something that looked like this. For a place charging these prices, this level of quality is unacceptable. It felt like absolutely no care, cooking skill, or even basic standards were applied. The rest of the food was equally disappointing, and the total bill was £52.30 for what I can only describe as a complete waste of money. If this is the “Classic Wickentree Burger,” then the kitchen seriously needs to rethink what they’re serving. I won’t be returning, and I’d strongly advise others to think twice before eating here.

For a place that used to have a warm traditional feel with excellent food is now becoming more and more what feels like a modern day mediocre cafe. £15 for half of beef sandwich and a couple of crisp is scandalous, not just that £4.25 for a can of coke.. to then have to stand up and collect your food off a robot!! Chinese technology is not an English tradition. Return to your employees and get your service standards back again!

Staff are lovely service good and friendly however food is decidedly average. We had a selection of meze but several items not available and substitutes were non comparable - therefore not an ideal choice when I had to ask for the difference to be refunded. Presentation of food was basic 2 sandwiches: Plain white bread cheese cut in half and plonked on plate with a thimble of cabbage. Ciabatta chicken & bacon was tasteless. Onion rings were chunky and robust but were greasy and lacking in flavour.

Had afternoon tea today and was absolutely appalled by the staffs lack of interest in their customers. We couldn't eat all of our food and asked politely if, we could have a box to take the remainder of our food home. The young lady more or less threw the boxes at us and I asked, what will I do about the prawn cocktail (that comes in a metal dish) The waitress asked a male waiter and she came back with.."he said, just throw it in the box" I said, "with a sandwich and cake" she just smirked!!!!! If they were bust I could understand, but there were 10 staff doing absolutely nothing apart from standing about chatting....luckily a older member of staff came to our rescue with small plastic pots to put the prawns in along with another box. Been in that restaurant lots of times, unfortunately today is the very last time. Disgusted..

The breakfast boards are great here, we’ve been a few times. They have a good menu selection from full breakfasts to Benedict/Pancakes/Toast..etc. the drinks are great too, we tried coffees, hot chocolates and mimosas. The queue can be a little much at peak times but staff are attentive and helpful! We did also go for afternoon tea but that was hit and miss (average mini sandwiches cakes and nibbles). I would recommend breakfasts but not afternoon tea.

I was enticed in by the offer of a buy one get one free on the cream tea. It was lovely. Furthermore I will return to try some of the lovely lunches on offer. The staff were lovely and friendly and we were made to feel really welcome.
