My post today is mainly about the customer service I received from Colin McDonald. Who went out of his way to help me, which is really appreciated for the extra time he took to resolve my query and following it up with an email at this very busy time of year . Each time I meet up with friends for lunch the food and atmosphere has been excellent! Thank you Wishing you all a Great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Always delicious food & great service at The John Millington which is why we come back again & again. Seasonal menu that changes but the favourites are always on there, so never get bored/always spoilt for choice. Service great, our waitress was just perfect, remembering our order without writing it down & repeat drinks without asking what everyone had last time, nothing was too much trouble. Also, I booked online this time to ensure a table as we had family visiting from abroad & I'd made a special request for a quieter table if possible, we were tucked away in a corner of the restaurant part at the back which was just perfect for our family catch up on a busy Saturday night. Thanks to all the staff, we'll see you again soon!

A Birthday Feast with a Side of Warm Fuzzies (and Peas) We celebrated a milestone birthday here, the big 50 and from the moment we walked in, the service had us feeling like VIPs, or at least Very Important Pie-eaters. I went straight in for the Three Cheese & Onion Pie: tarragon and garlic tucked in a golden shortcrust pastry, lounging in a cheese and chive sauce, and flanked by a honey-glazed bacon steak. The thick-cut chips were proper doorstops, and the mushy peas were so good I briefly considered proposing to them. My wife chose the turkey roast with pork and herb stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding so big it could double as a birdbath. The only quibble? The plate was a touch on the “pleasantly warm” side rather than piping hot. Dessert was skipped because the birthday boy had a cake ready to go. (In fairness, turning 50 is a good enough excuse to eat your bodyweight in frosting.) Would we come back? Absolutely. Next time, I’m saving room for pudding, and maybe asking for my plate to be just a shade hotter.

Great little Sunday roast in here. I had the platter with my partner and we really enjoyed it. The roast pork was especially tasty. I’d come Back just for that next time. Plenty of options if you’re not into a roast too. Will be back. Recommend booking on a Sunday as very busy.

My son and I went in half 6 Saturday evening having just phoned ahead to check. Pub was bustling with a good atmosphere and the restaurant was filling up. Lovely friendly staff tended to us throughout the meal which was delicious! I had the chicken fillet, which had lovely crispy skin and the caramelised onion and potato gratin was fantastic and all held together with a great sauce. He had rump steak, medium rare, which was really nicely cooked. Desserts were equally good. I had sticky toffee pudding which was moist with lots of toffee sauce and a really generous helping of ice cream. He had the chocolate and salted caramel cake which was chocoholics heaven! Highly recommended.

Really enjoy this place the food is brilliant and the venue itself is really nice, plenty of seating areas, nice decor. I visit here regularly for either the PubQuiz night (Weds 8pm) or for family occasions. The staff are amazing, very accommodating and always make you feel welcome and comfortable.

I have visited The John Millington on a few occasions and the decor and atmosphere are really good. I gave 4 stars for overall because even though they have started to introduce a couple of vegan options, they still do not have any plant based milks for beverages or vegan desserts. I did have the vegan fish finger ciabatta, which was very nice but does not come with sides. I ordered the thick cut fries to accompany, which I didn't check were vegan. I asked for plant based milk for my coffee and was told they did not have that option. Not good for anyone with dairy allergies.

Lovely vibe when we came in for Sunday lunch today, nice buzz around the place. We were greeted straight away and shown to our table. Thw waitress,Maia, was extremely attentive, friendly and professional. The Sunday Roast ( beef, turkey and roasted pork) was amazing as was the chicken burger my son ordered. Great food, service and atmosphere...we'll definitely be back. and a bonus the dog could join us!
