Roka has been recommended to me several times, and as someone who enjoys Japanese food, I wanted to give it a try. I visited today around 2:30 pm with a booking. The restaurant is extremely noisy, not because of the music, but because of the guests. I honestly don’t know how people can have a conversation; I could barely hear the waiter, no exaggeration. Today, there was no à la carte menu, only a set menu. This included a variety of starters, which were unlimited, one hot dish per person for the main, and a dessert platter. Presentation-wise, everything was very well done. However, the food itself was quite basic, even bland in places. Nothing really stood out, and I couldn’t pinpoint a dish I thoroughly enjoyed. The pork ribs, which I know are popular, were under-seasoned except for the top layer. The dessert platter, while visually appealing, was similarly basic. The mochi was frozen, the mango cheesecake was just ok, and the peanut bar with ice cream was decent. Overall, the lack of flavor, the basic nature of the dishes, and the overwhelming noise made the experience unenjoyable. I was actually looking forward to leaving. One final note: the waiters tend to reach over you when placing food on the table. This is basic waiter courtesy and should be avoided. Would I recommend Roka? No.

Went on Sunday evening and they only have two brunch menus with two pricing, we went for the regular one. It’s delicious and the portion is huge. Many starters from different sushis, edemame, fried chicken, salad, sashimi, etc. several dishes, we were already quite full even before the main course arrived, but still had the dessert. Nice restaurant for dates and celebrations.

Roka Canary Wharf absolutely crushed it for dinner. I kicked off with a Porn Star Martini, which was decent, but the true star was the Sakura 75 cocktail (which went down so quick I didn't get a photo of it) —it was absolutely delicious and highly recommended, definitely a must-try! For food, everything we had was great, especially the grilled prawns with miso butter (seriously amazing!) and the crab and prawn dumplings. My dining partner's beef skewers were nice, but unfortunately came out a bit too charred. Thankfully, the kitchen fixed it instantly with a replacement, which showed great service recovery. Dessert was divine; the crème brûlée with pistachio ice cream is the perfect way to finish the meal. A huge highlight was the service. Our waiter was so attentive and incredible with handling my dining partner’s dairy allergy, paying real attention to detail and even letting us know about dairy in the dishes I ordered. Overall, a genuinely fantastic dining experience with brilliant food and top-tier service. Highly recommend!

Went for the premium lunch menu as a birthday treat and it was all worth it. Delicious spinach salad to start, succulent gyozas, melt in your mouth tuna tartare and the sushi and sashimis were fresh tasting. Lamb cutlets are memorable, the beef fillet was cooked as we asked but definitely needs the ginger sauce to highlight it. Abundant rice given on the side. The server was so sweet singing happy birthday and personalising the dessert.

Roka in Canary Wharf delivers a great dining experience with a balance of class and comfort. The atmosphere is stylish yet relaxed, not overly formal, which makes it ideal for both special occasions and casual lunches and dinners. The service was excellent throughout—attentive, friendly, and professional, contributing to the overall enjoyable experience. As for the food, the black cod was delicious - rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The sashimi and prawn tempura sushi were also highlights. The beef dish was a bit underwhelming; it lacked the wow factor you might expect from a place like this. One slight disappointment was the tuna tartare, which came out more like minced tuna. The texture just didn’t compare well to similar dishes at other high-end Japanese restaurants.

We had the tasting menu for £99. We got a broad selection of Japanese food. Sashimi, Black cod, lamb and wagyu beef - All was tasting excellent. The desert platter was delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very loud. This is some minus - but still 5 stars.

Came here on 28/05/22 for their brunch and it did not disappoint!! Our waitress Angel was absolutely incredible and kept our glasses full without having to ask. Customer service was 10/10 and we couldn’t fault a single thing. You get A LOT for your money & it is definitely worth experiencing one the the best brunches out there!! ☺️

We were probably expecting too much for a sort of fine dining Japanese restaurant but apart from the wonderful service from the staff, the food is at best not bad :) We went for their brunch menu and despite the portion is rather generous, quality is not up to par for a Japanese restaurant. The roast chicken is good and the desser platter is great.

Regarding Food: 3.5stars. We went for the premium tasting menu and the food was ok, not impressive. The broccoli was a bit overcooked and tasted a bit bitter. Regarding covid measures: 1 star. Only hand gels were provided. Staffs were not wearing masks and keeping distances were not carried out very well. One dish was served to our table by mistake and after a while the staff took it away and put it straight to another customer, I’m very concerned of hygiene control in this restaurant.
