We called in yesterday Saturday 22 nd November for coffee and cake . The guy who served us was extremely rude and abrupt quite arrogant he made us feel extremely uncomfortable. We asked to see the cake options he literally told us I can’t remember the cakes get off your seat and go to the bar and see the menu ??! Hardly great service . So we did this he disappeared we actually didn’t see him again . The coffee arrived cold we asked the small very young girl for 2 cakes we had selected they never arrived ?? Considering you weren’t busy at all it was a poor show . We sat at table 17 next to the fireplace . We have been a few times and more so when you first opened years ago but this will be the last it was better service before you took customers for granted now it’s just rubbish .

We went in June for my birthday as a family of 6. The food was very good/slow and the service was a bit lacking. Roll on to November and what a difference. I was 5 mins late but already my dad and sister had been sat with their ordered drinks. Couple of minutes after joining them the waitress was over to get my drink order and followed it up 5 minutes later to get the food order. She was brilliantly polite, knowledgeable about the menu when asked what was the best options and thorough in ensuring the order was correct. We had the Brie wedges, pork belly bites, calamari for starters. Steak and ale pie, fish pie and the bang bang salad for mains. The starters were there after 10 mins of ordering and the mains were out 10 mins after the starter plates were collected. All the food was was brilliant and both times the waitress bobbed over to ask if everything was ok which was a resounding yes. The bonus is the sugar deli and all the accompanying gifts that were being sold ready for Xmas. We got a few gifts for Xmas and the sugar deli had the most amazing slices of cake, pies and Tarts aswell as different deli sweets for the kids. Happily recommend as we had a great time

Great place for drinks and food. We called for breakfast and the food was delicious. Great choice. The coffees (flat whites) were very good and a large size. I had the Chorizo Hash and it was very tasty indeed and a large portions. The FEBs were also excellent too. All the food is freshly made and piping hot. We didn’t book this time but normally do as it is popular and gets busy. Staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Dog friendly areas too and treats available to buy. Nice section of unusual gifts too.

I stopped for a quick lunch break. The best beef stew I had in a long time. The portion is filing, the ingredients are fresh. Lovely and caring staff, attention to details and fantastic vibrant atmosphere. I can’t wait to take my friends, will surely be back.

Visited for the first time on Sunday and had a lovely lunch. There was a choice of 1-3 courses for Sunday lunch and all were good value for money. Service was prompt and the food was piping hot when it arrived at our table. We both had the beef Sunday lunch and were impressed with the quality of food and how fresh it tasted. Portions were generous and there was no skimping on the gravy either. Nice little gift shop to browse on the way out too. Will definitely return

Lovely little find. Have been for breakfast and coffee now and lovely service. Nice setting, great food and good prices. We don't live far and plan to return often!

Not particularly impressed tbh. The table was sticky, the glasses dirty, and the service was incredibly slow even though it was very very quiet. The food was good, but not worth the wait. We ordered at about 11.40am to have lunch, waited about 30mins before asking about our food to be told they didn't start serving lunch until 12 (which we would have appreciated being told beforehand) and so had only started our food 15mins ago. The food arrived at 12.20pm, 40mins after ordering. I had the chicken with mash, brocolli and mushrooms in sauce, good flavour, but the mash was both lumpy and sloppy, and the chicken was incredibly dry. The mushrooms were the highlight of the dish. The burgers were well cooked but quite bland, good portions and not dry though. The kids cheesy pasta was simple but well done. Overall, worth a try but would not come back, not worth the price when I can cook better at home.
