As someone who has morals and lives by being an actual decent human being I will always change my reviews if new information arises, if standards get any better, I will absolutely change my opinion or if things start to decline after a few more visits, I'll change it accordingly. Today 30/11/24 after a nice walk around the local nature reserve, absolutely caked in mud from being out doors, having a blast with my kids and partner, we decided to go to the local club, there was a christmas fayre on with rides for kiddies and stalls to look around. Second stall in, I was approached by one of the ladies that works in the bakers dozen. She was calm at first but evidently annoyed at my review. She said that I shouldn't leave a bad review on a small business, by this point she was getting louder and her tone was becoming more aggressive, bear in mind we were at a family event. She then asked me if I ate "the ham sandwich" which I explained I had a bite and it was that poor, it went it the bin, to which she got increasingly louder and said you didn't eat it, you said it went in the bin. She then proceeded to tell me about how she made that sandwich and the food there is perfect and they haven't changed anything since it opened. My response, whilst with my children was calm but precise, a food review is a personal opinion, as a consumer I have a right to that stance and whether you're a small business or not, you must be open to critique. There were no personal vendettas against this business, I still stand by what I said and if you want better reviews... do a better job. I was passive aggressivly offered a refund for what we had purchased. This is when the personal attacks started. I obviously don't know what I'm talking about to which my response was "I'm a trained chef". Well you're obviously not a very good one... (oh so you've eaten my food then?) "You've obviously not eaten much good food," then she looked me up and down and said "by the looks of you, you eat alot". When someone attacks you personally, they automatically lose any credibility. My partner stepped in at this point because he is an upstanding gentleman and explained this premise, then a man (I think it was her Son) stepped in to tell my partner to not interfere (ironic, I know). I explained that "if we are going to get accosted at a family event about about a review I wrote 5 months ago, then please be assured that I'm not going to just sit down and take your ignorance". Then the son? Started attacking us in front of my 3 year old daughter and Autistic Son, saying we should take better care of our children, that they looked scruffy and we should buy them better clothes (this coming from a bloke who was stood drinking larger whilst in charge of his own children). He got right in my partners face in a very intimidating manner and said youre pissing me off now.... just a thought.... perhaps don't start a conflict at a family event, then because you don't like what you read or heard, start being aggressive. He asked me if I was going to edit my review about being offered a refund. There you go. I have been here a few times since it opened. The food has never been the best but it was just "ok", a work dinner if you will, nothing to write home about but also nothing worthy of a complaint. We've been today and I don't know what has happened since we last went but the food can only be described as "Bin fodder" and that's precisely where it went. The bin had its fill today. Nasty, cheap thin sausage, pork pie was inedible because of how salty it was and the ham salad sandwich was the blandest, mushiest, poor excuse for ham I've had since Billy Bear meat was a thing in the 90s. The portions had gone down by half too but yet the price didn't reflect this. I hate bashing a small business but when the level is this poor, you need to do better, be better. I don't know how you've got the shining reviews you have. Either people really don't care about the quality of what they are eating or you've got a lot of loyal friends that won't tell you the truth.

All made on the premises, the sandwiches are good value...well filled. Lunchtime specials are great and there's a variety of homemade cakes. Their new white chocolate cheesecake is to die for. Staff are friendly and helpful. Be prepared to wait; it's so popular because of the quality. Well worth it ! They do, after all, have 5 star status.
