Not usually the type to leave a review but I am very disappointed. The presentation of the food is nice but the taste….. chicken was hard and rubbery and the salt and pepper fries were so sweet that I couldn’t even eat it. Salt was nowhere to be found and the taste is just off putting.
From start to finish it was a lovely experience. The phone call was a breeze order fully taken and read back to make sure everything was on. It’s cash only and so it should be as cash is king. The interior is amazing all open plan you can see all of the kitchen and quite rightly has earned a 5 star food hygiene rating. The food all packed in re usable plastic boxes which come in real handy. The food quality and quantity was absolutely superb it was quite poss the best Chinese food I’ve tasted so overall 10/10 we all loved it oh and I got a complimentary bottle of Pepsi which went down a treat with my lads. Friendly staff is also a massive plus point.
Soft noodles tasted burnt as though they had been friend with 20 cigarettes also salt & pepper chicken pieces were undercooked and all stuck together in clumps where the batter was not cooked - don’t usually have a problem - won’t be ordering again
VILE SLOP!!!! We ordered the Honey Lemon Crispy Shredded Beef. It was just sloppy, soggy battered meat in a gluey sauce, no vegetables just rank slimy lemon sauce...HORRID! Also the Roast Duck Chow Mein was tasteless and had globs of duck skin and fat in it. 2 out of 3 times ordering from China@21 have been awful! Don't waste your money!! EDIT! What on earth are you talking about? You advised me not to have the beef? We ORDERED ON YOUR WEBSITE, no such advice took place. I ordered an 'off menu' item?!! How is that possible via the website?!! ITS LISTED AS A CHOICE ON YOUR MENU!!! How dare you lie to a paying customer to save face!!!!!! Here are images of *MY ONLINE RECEIPT *MY ORDER AND.... *YOUR MENU OFFERING THE BEEF WITH H/L ...SO IT ISNT AN 'OFF MENU' ITEM - IS IT? JOKERS!!! OH MY WORD WHAT A RIDICULOUS EXCUSE FOR SERVING POOR QUALITY FOOD!! DISGRACEFUL!!! For the shambles and complete LIE of a response, I'd appreciate my money refunded. I didn't ask for that the time, but now you have stooped so low as to blame me for this horrid meal, I think it's only decent to be fair!
Tiny portions, the chips were old and dry. Also, they're using bagged chips to make their salt & pepper chips. Paid almost £5 and there was barely any onion, pepper or salt! Tasteless, and the cooks DON'T USE GLOVES. The guy handling cash at the desk was the same guy frying the chips...wiping his hands on his trousers after handling food. Another guy was cutting chicken with his bare hands, and then handling plastic containers. Avoid this place. Hygiene = poor. Taste = poor. Portions = poor. I won't be coming here again. A massive disappointment as they used to be one of the best in Middleton.
Polite, helpful, really good food, reasonably priced. Can't fault them
Waited over an hour for the food, when I called after the hour, they said yes just making it now will be 30mins more!!....I had a young child waiting for her tea so was not happy. When the food came the paper the chips were in was shocking in oil!! It just ripped as you tried to get the chips out and they were just a soggy mush...the sweet and sour special was totally tasteless, as was the salt and pepper chicken which there was not much of. I will not be ordering again.
Spectacular food as always along with a friendly service. Just wish I could eat there everyday as there's so many options but this is a mega box ( salt and pepper items too)
Just moved to Middleton and was recommended this as a good Chinese…. So glad I did, it’s probably one of the best takeaways I’ve had. Driver was super friendly too and food was hot and arrived early, new favourite Chinese has been FOUND!
First time ordering from here and was not disappointed! We ordered a mega box for us and a fish box for the kids. The food was delicious and hot! The mega box had such a good variety of food and so tasty, especially the salt and pepper chips! Staff were friendly and polite when we picked up our order too! Will definitely be ordering from here again!
