Brilliant group dinner for 20 of us on. Sunday night. They took pre-orders. Such a great selection of dishes on the menu and the food is delicious. Service was great too from an attentive team.
Unfortunately the wait for food was too long but the guy serving us was very apologetic. I think they are short staffed in the kitchen so everyone was having to wait. The food was tasty and flavourful. Though Kerala stew was not on the menu, the chef made it for me.
We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The food quality was poor, and almost everything we ordered lacked flavour. Despite placing our order at least 30 minutes before arriving, the dishes were still served very late. We ordered Fish Pollichathu, which tasted and looked nothing like the authentic dish — it was more like fish in a plain onion curry. The Pothi Biriyani was also far below expectation; it didn’t even taste like a normal biriyani. It felt like some biriyani rice and chicken pieces were just wrapped in a banana leaf without any real spices or aroma. Also tried ghee roast, but the chutney was too salty. We also tried other dishes, but unfortunately, they were all below average in taste. Honestly, the only thing that tasted good was the water they provided, which says a lot about the overall food quality. The service was also below average. No one provided water or cutlery unless we specifically asked. There was very little communication or attention given to customers. The restaurant was quite cold inside, the ambience was dull, the restroom cleanliness was just average, and there was no proper parking facility either.
I recently visited Thrissur Pooram Restaurant in Leeds, and it truly felt like a trip back to Kerala. The ambiance is simple yet welcoming, with a homely touch that sets the tone for authentic South Indian dining. We tried a variety of dishes including dosa, Kerala-style fish curry, parotta, and biryani. Each dish was flavorful, well-seasoned, and prepared with care, the kind of taste that instantly reminds you of traditional home cooking. The parotta was perfectly flaky, and the curries were rich and aromatic. We had actually traveled all the way from Reading to Leeds, and the food was so impressive that it drew us back again the very next day on our return journey. On that visit, we enjoyed the traditional Kerala meals with 8–9 items along with a fried fish. It was an authentic Kerala dining experience that truly reminded us of home. The service was excellent on both visits. The staff were friendly, explained the menu in detail, and offered helpful suggestions. Food was served promptly, and the portions were generous. Considering the authenticity and quality, the prices are very fair and absolutely worth it. Thrissur Pooram is definitely a must-visit in Leeds for anyone who wants to experience real Kerala cuisine. I’ll surely be visiting again!
Authentic kerala food is available here alone. Have tried many other kerala or Indian restaurants in and around Leeds/Birmingham area, including some of the most hyped ones. But none of them matched the taste and quality and authentic of the kerala food available at Thrissur Pooram. Most recommended from my experience: 1. Pothichoru - enough for two with fish fry(if no veggies), thoran, achar, double omlette, sambar(bit sweeter), rasam(sweeter again), pulissery, thenga chamkanthi and Pappadom. 2. Chicken kizhi biriyani - Awesome biriyani, quantity is higher and may be sufficient for two. 3. Pori pori chicken - may be around 10-15 solid pieces in a half pori pori chicken itself. 4. Masala dosa - Very tasty 5 . Beef Nettooran - Very spicy, beef is cooked very well , many beef pieces. Overall great quantity and quality. 6. Kingfish fry - Nice and tasty
I have been using Uber eats to request their food for quite many months now where they always did their best on cooking, presenting every single time. To name a few parotta, beef nettooran, appam, stew etc.. Out of everything, I like their beef nettoran and parotta followed by the rest. I have never ever tasted porotta like this before and it was so light in stomach, no grease,oil when I teared up the parotta layers and the overall sensation of having their parotta can’t be compared with any other restaurant in the UK. These words are coming from someone who travelled from Inverness to Cornwall on the hunt of nadan food. Every dishes are delicious and homely. Trissur pooram team - You should be proud of you! You really should.
Truly authentic Kerala food. Great range of dishes for affordable prices. Absolutely blown away with the quality of food and also the quantity. Kizhi Porotta, Chicken biriyani with bone, Beef nettooran are just amazing. Trissur Pooram is definitely the best in leeds.
Ordered via uber eats on 26/11/2022. Malabar biriyani was below average. Used some rice same as boiled rice cooked at home. BDF was over cooked/fried hence I couldn't really taste if it was actually made of beef. Please improve.
Never been to this restaurant once, but been ordering as a loyal customer for a long time. The food is impeccable- not one review here is doctered - the taste is 1:1 the real thing - Best Kerala food. PERIOD. But it doesn’t end there they actually care about what they do. As a Keralite myself, I am proud they preach what we say back home, a meal should fill hearts. This is one place that always touch my heart when I order their food. Little things like such apology notes show that they actually care about what you eat and how you eat. If this isn’t soul food, then idk what is.
