Good escape from the crowded borough market. Schnitzel was reasonably price and tasted good. Fries were generous. Salad was fresh. Staff were friendly and helpful. Went on a weekday lunch and it wasn’t crowded and peaceful with good music.
Came here at 6:30 pm Friday night looking for classic German food and good pub vibes. First thoughts were that this felt like walking into underground bunker rather than a lively German tavern. There were 4 young staff members at the the bar, but none came up to us to explain how to order or whether to order at the bar. Service was unfriendly but food, beer and prices were excellent. Paprikawurst and bratwurst were my favorite. Pretzels were also pretty great. Would like to come back on a busier night or a night with better vibes.
Delicious food, especially the small sausage platter, with the sauerkraut. Very friendly service. We enjoyed the quiet afternoon atmosphere, before the evening rush, and after the crowds of Borough Market.
The service was OK but it was very loud in the underground basement. The food is really plain and the sides sour. I ordered two types of sausage but they both tasted the same. The chips were dry and salty and there was no additional condiments except the ketchup and mustard sauce to add to supplement the meal. The portion size of the schnitzel was really good but again it was very plain. The sausages were small in comparison and slot about the and price. The beer was a redeemable feature of the meal and worth trying again in Germany.
Interesting to come across a beerkeller in London Bridge. A variety of German sausages available with beer, and tv screens to watch sport. If you’re in the area and fancy a beer while eating hotdogs, this could be your place.
Underground location close to Borough market. The beer was good. The food was decent. Had sausages and fries. Interesting mix. One thing though, the sausages were really good.
First time to this place, was at the basement. Good atmosphere with live brass band music, but disappointed with the food. Poor quality - pretzels were super salty, sausages were “alright”, chips were cold. The Apple strudel was not what I expected - tasted cold and dry, pieces of pastry tasted hard like it was not cooked well.
Sausage and fries were good, but the spaetzler and the Mac and cheese were very underwhelming. There was minimal cheese or cheese flavour and due to the slight breeze, it got cold quickly.
Whether you like this place will depend on how much you like German beer and Bratwurst… luckily I like both in big quantities!! Loads of great beers to try and I mean loads!! Fun food menu… doesn’t try to pretend to be anything too swanky… good choice of sausage, loads of cabbage and sauerkraut and generous with the chips… what more could you want!! If you grab it on a busy night… atmosphere is brilliant too!! A little local fave of mine!
