I’ve never been spoken to so rudely in a café before. My partner and I sat down at Plenty Café in Hampton, and from the moment we were served, the older lady working there was cold, dismissive, and completely uninterested in serving us. About 25 minutes after we’d ordered, she suddenly came right up to me and said, “It’s extremely rude to bring in drinks from another place, you have no etiquette.” She said it right in my face, in a harsh and intimidating tone, with other people around — it was humiliating. I completely understand if a café doesn’t allow outside drinks, but this was not how you handle it. A polite reminder would have been enough. Instead, it felt aggressive and unnecessary, and it completely ruined the experience. We decided not to eat in the end. The tables were sticky and the whole place just felt off. Definitely not a place I’d ever go back to.

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment following my recent visit to Plenty Café in Hampton. When my partner and I and her friend arrived, we sat down and were served by an older lady who approached us in a lethargic, dismissive, and pompous manner. Her tone was dreary and unwelcoming from the very start, and it felt as though our presence was an inconvenience rather than being valued as customers. After reluctantly taking our order, she returned around 25 minutes later and confronted my partner in an intimidating and condescending way — stating that it was “extremely rude” to bring in drinks from another place and that we had “no etiquette.” This was said directly to my partner’s face, in a confrontational tone, and completely unnecessarily. I understand and respect that establishments may have policies against outside drinks. However, the way this was handled was entirely inappropriate and unprofessional. I run a business myself, and I can assure you that no customer should ever be spoken to in such a manner, regardless of the situation. A polite and respectful reminder would have sufficed. The entire experience left us feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. We chose not to eat after this interaction, and frankly, judging by the attitude and the sticky tables, I am relieved we didn’t. This kind of behaviour reflects very poorly on your establishment. I hope you take this feedback seriously and address the staff member’s conduct appropriately — no customer should ever be treated this way

What a great experience we had here. We both enjoyed our meals and had fantastic service. We’re looking forward to visiting again soon.

Oh wow, what an incredible experience! The food was absolutely delicious at this fantastic Italian restaurant! My family has been here a few times and always says what an excellent spot it is for dinner. The combination of lemon and courgette pasta with a hint of chilli was delightful! I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this gem if you love Italian cuisine.

Food was really good. Had to wait 10 minutes to be offered a menu though, and 15 mins between courses, which made everything a rush. If you're not in a hurry, it's a nice place with good food.

One of the best family-ran restaurants in London. Very cosy place, consistent quality and friendly service. The pizzas are divine, but the carbonara is just top notch. Good selection of wines, very affordable, will visit again (and again). Thanks Tanya.

The empty plates speak for themselves. A chance find on our way back home from the airport. Lovely & unpretentious with simple yet delicious food. Excellent service, thank you.

I came here with my brother and the environment was so cosy, our host was so friendly and kind and we just had the best time ❤ The food cannot be faulted and so reasonably priced. We were given complimentary drinks at the end which were so delicious but mainly unexpected! We felt really welcome to come again which is so nice as it's a local gem
