Hidden gem in London♥️Wonderful food and service! We had onion bhaji and samosa for starters. Tikka masala and korma for main and shared kulfi ice cream for dessert. Papadums and garlic naan is also a must! My first visit since I lived in London in 2016, and the food was just as great in 2025. Pure class - enjoy! (I forgot to take pictures of the starters, but they went down too quickly!)

A Hidden Gem in Richmond – Tangawizi Delivers Elegance and Heart From the moment we stepped into Tangawizi Indian Restaurant, we knew we were in for something special. This isn’t just the best Indian restaurant in Richmond — it’s an experience that blends elegance, authenticity, and genuine hospitality in the most delightful way. The service felt incredibly personal. We truly loved the warm table chats, and it was clear that every member of the team was genuinely interested in our comfort and needs. It’s rare to find that kind of care and attention these days, and it made our evening feel intimate and memorable. Tangawizi has been a standout since its opening in 2004 — even clinching the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand Award in its very first year — and it’s easy to see why. The atmosphere is vibrant yet refined, with traditionally dressed staff adding to the authentic charm. The food? Absolutely exceptional. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor, reflecting both tradition and culinary finesse. Whether you’re a local or visiting Richmond, Tangawizi is a must-visit. It’s more than just a restaurant — it’s a celebration of Indian cuisine, served with warmth, elegance, and a personal touch that makes all the difference. Not forgetting the ability to park right outside the restaurant.

We weren’t too hungry, so got full on starters but they were delicious, especially the coco prawns and the gilafi kebab. I would love to come back and try the Mains. The cocktail was also really good.

Visited Tangawizi for dinner, on arrival we were greeted at the door by a member of staff. The restaurant wasn’t busy so we had a choice of tables. After getting seated, a waiter came to welcome us and hand us the menus dressed in traditional outfits which was a good sight to see. The customer service was really good, the staff were friendly and service was very quick. The owner even came over and checked on us. On to the food, we ordered a few different starters and went for the veg biriyani for main, by the time we finished the starters, we were stuffed. We ordered the chicken shashlik, chilli paneer (my favourite) amongst others, these two is highly recommended. The chicken was cooked to perfection, well seasoned and perfect spice level. If you’re ever in Richmond and looking for a place to have Indian cuisine, I would highly recommend this place.

I worked in London for about two years and was staying near Tangawizi. I ate there a couple times a week many many times over that two year time frame. I absolutely love it there. The food is phenomenal and always has the highest quality ingredients. The service is exceptional as well. Eight years later, we returned to the UK for my 60th birthday and I wanted to visit them again due to the fond memories I had. Our dinner this evening was just as phenomenal as ever. The flavors and freshness of the ingredients was incredible. The King tandoori shrimp are a favorite of mine and I literally got another order for dessert rather than a normal dessert. They thought I was joking when I ordered it for dessert! I travel frequently for business and have had the opportunity to eat at many phenomenal restaurants and they are at the top of the list with the best! I’m so happy they made it through the pandemic and now celebrating 20 years. I would highly recommend Tangawizi!

We visited Tangawizi to celebrate a birthday and it was wonderful. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Staff made us really welcomed, the owner came over for a chat and even went to the effort of giving me a box of chocolates as a birthday gift. We will most definitely be visiting again, it was such a treat finding this little treasure of a restaurant so close to home.

Great food in a lovely setting. We had 2 curries and the taste and aromas were perfect, combined with a tender meat and a lovely rice. Great place for Indian hankerings.

I had some great curry over the years, in and around London, and for some reason I did not know this restaurant: little I knew that I missed out on the best curry ever! We had the very classic butter chicken, which was incredibly tasty and with so much depths of flavours. We also had the coconut lamb, which was so tender that we were blown away by the quality of the meat. Absolutely 10/10, will go back

Nice food but a bit highly priced. The service is good though. The owners themselves look after the service and serve you. Portions are very small. Good location in twickenham, just moments away from the bus stop.Overall a nice place.
