Pretty good fish but not that great chips. The fish was fresh, crispy tasty, overall, perfect. However, the chips were below mediocre. Very dry and yet soggy. Maybe older or wrong type of potatoes. If I would visit next time, probably would just go for takeaway and not dine in Other than that, everything was great. The service was nice and quick.
I have been a customer for 13 years, and my partner for 30 years. Toff’s used to be a place where you could truly enjoy fish and chips — one of the most competitive in London. Today, after my clinical appointment, we went there to relax. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The staff seemed confused, with poor engagement toward customers. It felt more like being in a fast-food chain than in a classic fish and chips restaurant. As for the food, the quality has gone down. The fish and chips were oily and poorly prepared — nothing like what Toff’s used to serve. Sadly, I was eating just to fill my hunger, not to enjoy. I can no longer recommend this place.
Ordered fish and chips expecting something fresh and tasty, but what I got was greasy, soggy chips and a bland and the chips were cold and tasted like they’d been sitting around for ages. Nothing about the meal felt fresh or enjoyable. For the price, which is £17.30 I expected much better. Won’t be going back ….
Favourite fish and chips in London right now for takeaway and sitting in. The cod is the right point between soft and firm. Only criticism is that the mushy peas are a little bland. 5 stars because the fish is so good, taken away twice and sat in once, consistently great. £25 takeaway for large cod, regular chips, mushy peas and homemade tartar sauce.
Amazing restaurant, so far the best fish and chips I had. The batter was light and crispy. Fish soup was amazing, it’s very mild and tasty. Mushy Pea was nice too, I believe even someone normally don’t eat pea would like that too. They have all kind of fish which I would like to try next time. Only small issue is it’s difficult to find a parking nearby. Definitely recommend this and will come again.
Amazing proper Englisch Restaurant. Fish is quality and is prepared Delicious and fresh in a classic way. Meat pies are delicious ! Staff is very welcoming and forthcoming, attentive and friendly. Overall an amazing restaurant to visit not only for their amazing fish & chips ! Wow
Best fish and chips I have ever had. Actually behind the FnC front there is a really small but Cosy easy area in wood-pub eatery style. And a great (very fresh) fish menu. So I got a grilled dover sole instead of a classic fry-up. It was brill. Our table also tried the king prawns. Chips come in two styles, classic soggy or crispy well done. They also cater for vegetarians and not just mushy peas which were great. A choice of salads available. The dessert menu has just 4 choices I think but who meds to look past the treacle pudding with lashings of custard?!! Staff on the ball and quick to catch the eye and serve. The food arrives piping hot and the plates were warmed. Lots of attention to detail which makes simple food super. No wonder they are famous !
The best fish and chips place ever, delicious, fresh fish and the service was excellent especially Landi the waiter. The cod fish, the place and the dover sole.
