Had a great experience at The Fat Boar. We ordered plenty of dishes to try and everything came out fresh and full of flavour. The slow cooked Beef Brisket was the highlight incredibly tender and rich, served with creamy mash and deep, tasty gravy. I also tried Sea Bass, it was also good in taste. Service was friendly throughout and staff was quick. The menu has good mix of pub classic and more refined dishes. I recommend this to others as well

Awful from start to finish. Over booked and not enough competent members of staff. Booked for a birthday meal in the booth. Electric heaters were faulty leaving the rest of the guests cold. When asked about putting it back on, the staff behind the bar basically stated they couldn't. When taking our orders, only half of us received our deposits back. She took half the order and sent it to the wrong place and then forgot about the remaining guests wanting to order. We spoke to the manager about the service as our table was booked for 6, yet all orders were finally taken at 7:30 - He started with a complimentary round of drinks, to which we found a half broken and used straw in her hot chocolate, it begs to differ if that glass was even clean upon making someone a drink. We wanted to speak to someone regarding this and we were told the manager is too busy to speak with us. I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone, the staff had awful attitudes and no customer service whatsoever. The only positive was the food... When it finally arrived was half decent but the experience was diabolical.

Food The menu wasn’t the menu that is currently on the website, which on its own wouldn’t really have mattered. However, the sharing platter starter tasted like everything had been cooked from frozen. The ribs had a watery - again as if they had been frozen - rather than meaty texture. Service When we arrived we had been double booked so there was no available table for us. The staff did quickly resolve this and were able to find somewhere for us to sit. The food service was slow. No steak knife was brought with steak. There was no check back after the mains were brought to the table. They approached the table to clear the mains while 2 people still had their knives and forks in their hands were still eating. Then it was hard to find someone to ask for the bill at the end. Drinks All of their soft drinks contain artificial sweeteners, presumably because of the sugar tax, and so water was the only soft drink I was able to drink. All in all, poor food as well as questionable service. We will not be returning.

We visited for Bottomless Brunch in January and had a great experience. We were sat upstairs, the service was outstanding, we were waited on from start to finish and left a tip that hopefully reflected the great time we had. Based on that, we booked again to go 7th June, paying a deposit of Β£10 each beforehand. The experience was completely different from start to finish. We were sat downstairs and had to find someone to ask for more drinks, on a number of occasions. The food platters were reasonable but not as nice as in January. The event had been advertised with "frozen cocktails" - this wasn't listed on the paper menu on the table on the day. When my friend asked, the gentleman said that he could get them - but it was obvious he wasn't wanting to include them, despite them having been advertised. At the end of the session, my friend went to settle the bill, to discover that the "sober" place we had booked for me as a non-drinker, was the same cost as everyone else. In January it was Β£5 cheaper, and I'd considered it good value based on the great experience we had. I don’t think it's reasonable to pay Β£32 for half of this platter and 2 Diet Cokes? Maybe I'm a bit out of touch, but I think it's excessive. I certainly won't join again - it's obvious that alcohol is more expensive than soft drinks, and more alcohol would be drunk, so why wouldn't it be cheaper? In addition, a Diet Coke had been added to the bill separately at a cost of Β£3. The waitress did offer to remove this when it was pointed out, but we just wanted to leave, as we were disappointed in general with the service. We won’t return - a real shame when so many have tried to support the Fat Boar since its forced closure for hygiene a few years ago.

Wonderful food and a wonderful experience, staff are friendly and ready to serve. Food was amazing and well worth the money which is reasonable priced and suited to any budget. A must visit for any occasion. Service with a smile. Atmosphere top notch. My only criticism is they have to many tables upstairs probably to maximise space. This is not a really issues if you like a more cozy environment.

Absolutely brilliant this place. Great vibe, lots of seating indoors and out. And the best of all was the food. Great tasting and big portions. Highly recommended.

Went to the fat boar on Saturday with friends for the afternoon tea with unlimited cocktails. We were greeted with a glass of Prosecco as soon as we were seated. The food was amazing and drinks were amazing we fitted in every cocktail and more in the 2hr slot. Our table team Emily and Alex were very friendly and made our afternoon feel special 5* s
