This is a lovely pub with a great country feel to it. What makes this place a bit different is that they have a separate area to give you that ‘restaurant’ style experience. Quite often pubs charge restaurant prices but fail to deliver on the service and quality. This is not the case here, you get the full on restaurant service from start to finish. Our server Oliver was friendly, approachable where nothing was too much trouble. We dined from the festive menu and paid the extra to have any supplement removed which also included a welcome drink and after dinner cocktail. The scallop starter was nice but nothing wow. The mains, were the absolute star of the show. We had the Ribeye Steak and Pork Tomahawk. Both dishes were bang on with flavour and generously portioned. Special shout out to that calvados gravy, exceptional! A couple of reasons why I’ve not given this 5* was down to the scallop starter and that I had already paid to remove all the supplements but charging then another supplement for steak sauces, they should include this as part of an ‘all in’ deal. All in all, a great dining experience in a friendly and well run pub. Will definitely be going back.

Came for dinner with my daughters and it was a lovely evening. The staff were amazing, and the food was excellent. Can’t wait to return soon.

Great place and beautiful place, food is amazing and a service with a smile. The atmosphere is tranquil and always a warm welcoming feeling. The Sunday roast just didn’t have that wow factor for me, just wasn’t great and tasted very bland. But I can say the rest of the food looks amazing and I will try the pasta next time for sure.

Well, we could have done with a bigger table , but we did not realise how much we would get , the food was very nice , well cooked with lots of fresh ingredients , no microwave roasties here . One of our relatives came upon this place by accident on the way back from Gatwick and recommended it , a long way to go but it was worth it , the staff were really good and made you feel welcome and really were helpful. This was a Sunday with a special roast menu , so I can not comment on the menu for the rest of the week . It was obviously a popular place with the locals , so the atmosphere was good.

My family of 6 had a fabulous Xmas Day lunch celebrating at The George and the food, wine, service and everything was just perfect as we live just around the corner we were able to easily walk there. Although we were asked to go for an early sitting at 12.00pm we didn't actually leave the restaurant to much later than 2.00pm which was great so it was extremely relaxed to make it so enjoyable. I think that the decision to not let in just drinkers enabled all the staff to focus on the many people who were having lunch and the attention/service we were given was fabulous. We would like to thank everyone at The George for making our Xmas Day lunch so special. Hope to see you soon again in 2023!

I visited here with a friend and we had such a nice catch up. We had such a warm and friendly welcome making us feel comfortable and relaxed. I had a Beef Roast and it was perfect, the veggies were super yummy! I 100% recommend and will be returning! Staff here are fantastic!

The staff friendly and helpful but sadly the service was slow considering it wasn't that busy. The cover of the valentines menu showed a free glass of Moet champagne but that never materialised! Our desert went to someone else, so had to wait another 15 mins for ours. The gents loo was very smelly, the soap dispencers were all broken and the hot taps as it turned out were just for show were not plumbed in. Being winter the cold water tap was really cold and there were no anti bacterial sanitizers anywhere in sight. The ladies loos apparently only had one door that locked and one soap dispenser working. The wall beside our table was cover in some kind of fat splashes and the decor generally starting to look a bit tired. However the food was tasty and hot, although the presentation was lacking a little finess. 45years ago we had our first date in this Pub, so we were hoping for a better experience but we couldn't fault the staff.

Awful experience on Sunday. How can you forget to add one of the meats to two plates of a TRIO roast? Then when asked bring out a plate on anaemic pork cut offs and be told the chef just forgot. No knives on the supposedly set table then when asked a pile of more knives than needed (passive aggressive?) were plonked down. Bar staff struggled to get a single drinks order right. Service unwelcoming/slow or frenzied. No inbetween. Adult mains served before the children, it’s always a peeve of mine in a ‘family friendly’ pub. This place has progressively gotten worse over the last 8 years.
