I have to agree with other reviewers .. Firstly the owner did not smile or offer any interaction with customer , i had to make the interaction when i walked into the shop , owner is very stingy giving very small portions of chips for £3 ..i tried many chips shop in local area , this has to be the worst for service and small portions..I felt very cold negative energy in this place .you paying £3 for a kids size chip portion rip off. On the positive side, chips had good taste and fluffy on the inside

I ordered for Haddock fish and chips at Hi-Tide Barkingside. I paid £17.50 in total. The chips was ok and a sizeable portion, I enjoyed it. Unfortunately the Haddock fish had a slight off-putting smell, hadn't been handled or stored in optimal fresheness and utterly bland. I couldn't eat the fish for the fear of stomach upset. Bad experience with the Haddock fish.

The chips are nice but the portions are tiny. They give it behind the counter so you cant see but one small portion is just about enough for one. Never ever get the cheese and onion pasty, its hard and you require a chainsaw to eat it. Such a waste of money.

Smallest ‘large’ portion of chips I’ve ever seen. You can’t see the portions being served up behind the counter so it’s not until you get home and unwrap it that you realise! Very good chips though, just not many of them!

Got from the takeaway. Great tasting & quality fish & chips. Nice mushy peas as well. I did wait for my order to be fried which I didn't mind at all. Well worth the money and wait.

Headed especially to this shop as had heard good things. Finished serving customer in front of me then walked off without saying anything, came back to the counter, then walked off again without acknowledgement. No customer service skills whatsoever

I have been going to hi-tide for 20 years. The fish is always well cooked and hot and the chips also very good. Went this evening and the food was of the usual high quality. I recommend this shop

Quite expensive compared to others fish and chip restaurants. Fish was good, large portion of chips was more like medium compared to others and taste and everything about it was the same

Best Fish and Chips in London/Essex. Always been the best chips around hands down but the fish is also on par with the best. I usually get a cod row and a sausage and the better is very good. Not greasy and its cripsy. Steve the owner is a nice guy and if you're in a rush don't tell him you like football as you'll never get away!! Good size Gherkins and well and if you want a treat then have the chicken nuggets, very nice. The restaurant is also nice to eat in as well.
