Visited here on a Saturday afternoon after being sent over by the May 10 Eatery across the road for veg patte. The aroma in the shop was amazing, The shop was busy, had about 4 customers ahead me. My turn to order came but the service was odd. The counter tops are so high, I could hardly hear and clearly was not giving my order loud enough. The lady taking and preparing my order looked so miserable which was off putting. If didn't not have to buy the veg for a vegan friend I would of not bought anything.

I had been looking forward to visiting this historical Tottenham joint for a very long time. Unfortunately my experience didn't quite live up to the expectations, both on the customer service and food fronts. I will start with the former: the place is rather loud and busy (which is totally OK, makes for a lively atmosphere), and the counter really high, which would require the server to speak up and engage a bit more proactively with punters. However, this wasn't the case with the young lady who took my order. She kept whispering barely audible words, despite my making it clear I could not hear and repeated requests to raise the volume of her voice, never once smiling or trying to be more helpful. I am fully aware this is a no-frills takeaway, but friendliness can shine through even in very short customer interactions, and on this occasion the lack of care made the experience uneasy and awkward. Moving on to the food: I ordered mutton soup, and a jerk chicken menu. The soup was tasty and the portion satisfying; the jerk chicken on the other hand was well-cooked, but it felt too little compared to the accompanying portion of rice and peas, which ended up being quite dry as a result. Even if they did not want to place more chunks of chicken in the box, more sauce would have definitely been warranted to give the dish some balance. Lastly, the jerk chicken was supposed to come with a dumpling, according to the menu; however, once I got home there was no trace of it in the box, which left me shortchanged. Overall not terrible, but I think it is fair to expect much better from an established institution like this.

First time trying cornmeal porridge and did not disappoint, I recommend trying it. It has a buttery allspice undertone to it. I also had the jerk chicken and rice and peas. Jerk chicken was nice, got that aunty rizz to it. But the rice and peas are too dry in my opinion, needs a sauce as it was challenging to get through the portion. . I would note that staff do take there time when packaging the food, so if you are in a hurry it may not be ideal. Overall it's a solid, authentic, restaurant that I recommend

Terrible service , staff was so unbothered and kept picking at little things before taking order . Waited 15 minutes . The patties are not even patties , they lack the colour and look more like pastry and taste horrible ,

Very Tasty. £9.65 Jerk Chicken dinner filled me up all day. And the rice & peas was lovely too

What a rip off, bought jerk chicken and rice at the Tottenham branch; Cost me £9.75. Lumped up too much rice, barely any meat and got the bony part of the chicken, the neck area. Not the best jerk I have eaten, regret the purchase. Absolutely ridiculous! Couldn’t see the meal being prepared and assumed I would get a 1/4 chicken like most places. Luckily had ordered the sweet chilli wings on to of the order. Ludicrous!!!

Minimum spend on card is £8, not being funny but in this current climate people rarely carry cash. I only wanted a Pattie and a drink and was told minimum spend on card is £8. You need to upgrade your card machine to allow no minimum spend needed.

The staff are very efficient. They greet you and serve you with a smile. The food here is fresh and very tasty.
