Great little, secret, cafe on the edge of the park. Good selection of lunchtime food plus lovely cakes etc. Nice warm, cosy, cafe with the option to sit on a picnic table in one of the large green houses ( part of the garden centre), or on the many outdoor tables in the garden .
Really not pram or family friendly. Was very difficult navigating to the counter with a pram. Staff were not friendly or welcoming. Food came with no cutlery so had to go back in and ask for it. Food was mediocre. High chairs were absolutely filthy, covered in dirt and leaves. Just not a great experience.
Lovely oasis of calm (no pun intended) in the midst of Heaton Park tucked away from the busier and noisier playground and lake areas. Good food, reasonably priced served by friendly staff. Well behaved dogs on leads welcome outdoors (not inside). And you can pick up some lovely plants from the garden centre on the way out!
Good coffee shop in pleasant surroundings. It has expanded into a number of spaces both outdoors and indoors. Recommended. Suggested Improvement: Faster service at the small counter.
Visited Heaton Park alone to relax and unwind. I like this place. It is a hidden gem tucked away within the gift shop in the garden centre. There are plenty of seatings in their greenhouse, 'back garden,' the terrace (just outside the café), and inside the café. However, they were really short staffed. There was a long wait to order your food and drink at the counter as I queued for 25 minutes around 2pm on a Saturday. Also, nobody cleared up the tables so many tables were either occupied by people or uncollected plates and cups. The menu on the blackboard is small but reasonably priced in my opinion. I liked the cake display but it would have been better if they have labelled their food stuff with a price tag. I ordered a hot chocolate (£2.75) and minced beef pie with peas and gravy (£5.50). The food came really quick though - less than 10 minutes after I ordered. Food came hot in temperature. The portion was ok but the flavours were slightly on the salty side for my liking. It wasn't anything special. I really enjoyed the ambience of this place surrounded by nature (plants) and the sun. I would recommend this place for relaxation but if you're here as a foodie, then I'd suggest elsewhere.
As the name says - it literally is a hidden gem! Excellent quality of food at reasonable prices and the staff are super friendly.

Relaxing place for drinks and snacks. Part of the park garden centre. Small indoor cafe and large dog friendly greenhouse section as well as outdoor tables. Gift shop and plant sales. Very enjoyable experience.
Nice place but coffee didn’t taste right… they had a decent coffee machine but tasted like cheap instant…
The staff were very nice and polite. Thea food did not take too long to be served. Although this is a very beautiful place, it is slightly hidden (hence the name) and somewhat difficult to find. There are also various other gifts and plants that can be bought on site.
