   Love this cafe order from the screen all food and drinks brought to your table not necessarily at the same time but the ability to be able to sit down wherever there's a free table for me is well worth the learning curve of operating the ordering screen

   We decided to go to John Lewis for something to eat. The touch machines are awful. We prefer personal service. Spoke to lovely member of staff who said that they prefer the old method. Anyone listening Marks and Spencer. Most of the people in the cafe were of a certain age and I suspect they would prefer the old cafe.

   Rude staff - went to the m&s cafe for some lunch as me and my partner entered we could see it was busy I noticed it was self service touch screens, as I could see it was busy I thought to check if there were any tables free my partner stood in the queue, I came back to him as I saw there were a few tables free I then approached the pay screen that was available to use as I started to use it a staff member appeared abruptly and said quite rudely and loudly there’s a Queue and we have skipped it i apologised to the lady staff member and went to the back even though we had already waited but to avoid conflict we waited again, we felt very awkward as people were now looking as if we pushed in but we were not she miss judged what happened, I said to the lady next in line that machine was free if she would like to use it the staff member said that it wasn’t to be used as she was controlling the Queue’s to use the touch screens one by one as there was a back up on hot and cold drinks which is understandable but she didn’t need to speak to me and my partner in the manner she did, as we finally got back to the front of the line we decided to leave as we both felt embarrassed by the ordeal we left feeling deflated and upset about the whole situation. Maybe the needs to be more clear signage on where to stand or how to order. Definitely some staff training as the abrupt manner of saying get to the back of the line wasn’t on.

   I got a latte and a hot chocolate. The portions were very small, and the price was the same as a large coffee you might get outside. There were no placemats, so they poured it from glasses and brought it to the table. I didn't like the price-service ratio. This service, this size of coffee, wasn't worth the price. The coffee and chocolate were standard, neither bad nor very good.

   Queues are shocking due to poor management of staff numbers and allocation. I waited quite a while to be served but in the end I had to leave. To be honest Marks and Spencer cafes are pretty poor service in general....they definitely need an over-all of their serving protocol.

   How standards have slipped at M&S. Staffing at bare minimum. Tables rarely cleared, never cleaned. Floors with food on, but don't blame the staff. Management cost cutting has led to the front cafe being a shadow of it's former self. Closed half the time, used as a warehouse overflow. Even when it is open, hot food is no longer delivered to the table and waiting for it means even slower queues. A once enjoyable experience sadly demoted. Shame on you M&S!
