   Visited 16/12/24 disappointed in products very small Christmas section there was no Christmas atmosphere or decorations. Staff didn't seem very happy and the smartest member was a Muslim girl who has served us before and is always helpful.

   Customer service needs improving. I took an item back for an exchange as I didn’t have receipt. But the woman on tolls said they could exchange the item on the sale price and not the original price, I asked what the item was priced at and she said X amount but didn’t say that was the *sale price. Looked around the store and was quite disappointed about the lack of girls clothes in, 2/3 lots of trainers and all high tops too. Even the underwear was either age 2-3 or 8-10 onwards, nothing in between sizes.

   I been to matalan today at bescot I bought some Disney baby grows and they were on coat hangers I wanted to keep the little disney coat hanger has it was a gift to be told I have got buy the coat hanger which was only 10p but why have you got to buy a coat hanger that comes with the baby grow shame on you matalan

   Tried to overcharge me on a bag where the price tag said one price but was scanning as a higher price. The staff lady told me I needed to pay a higher price and that the lower price tag should have been taken off. It's not my problem because I the lower priced tag waa not taken off. Then she asked me if I am taking the hangers, as I needed to pay for them if I wanted them. I said no one informed me of this. She then proceeded to point me to a sign that said, "I need to buy hangers for 10p a hanger (nothing to say that these hangers would be the ones that are attached to the clothes)." Really, really dismal service in Matalan now.

   Very rarely go to matalan. Store today was absolutely freezing cold, all the staff had thick coats on. Came in for baby vests but they only had little sizes. Couldn’t find anything above 6-9 months in size. Then wouldn’t serve me at the till as I was paying by card, this is despite the tills also taking card machines, so I had to wait to use the self serve til, even though no one else was waiting. Matalan, turn your heating on for the staff and customers, it was warmer outside than in your store. And some lighting in the changing rooms and towards the back of the store wouldn’t go amiss too. You’ve spend a little money making behind the tills look pretty but you fail to update your changing rooms , they desperately need updating, at least pop some new curtains up, the ones up are all ripped.

   Pros - good sized store with plenty of parking. Now for the negatives - the majority of the clothes have no prices on them, the perforated part is torn off for some odd reason on about 80% of the clothes. How am I supposed to know whether I can afford what’s in my basket unless I a) take it to the tills or b) look it up online. Secondly, the young girls at the till would not serve anyone who were paying by card - we were ordered to use the self scan tills. I thought self scan were optional? Just seemed like they couldn’t be bothered serving anyone! Edited to respond to Matalan. The manned tills had no queue but customers were told if they wanted to use card they HAD to use the self service till. Which actually took me longer as I had a lot of shopping. Staff need better training on customer service

   This Matalan is probably this biggest I've been in. It doesn't look to nice from the outside it could do with some work but inside is spacious and light. You can get clothes for every occasion and in every age group its also really well priced. You can even get homeware and toys from here.
