   Good pub but no music better if there was music and entertainment. New houses facing try and get younger and new people in the pub. Always been a good pub gone in for many years needs bringing in to the 21st century. Still plenty of characters go in the pub but it is an older type of persons pub so could or needs more to attract new people in. Just needs to attract more people. Pub is old school like a proper pub should be.

   Amazing pub and the lady behind the bar was so friendly and welcoming and they had Samuel Smiths various on draft and for 2 pints £6.60 bargain. Love the old style tiling on the side of the pub and the inside is clean and welcoming.

   Lovely pub, been in many times before (with the dog), however due to Sam Smiths stupid rules you now can't take dogs in. We actually managed 2 rounds of drinks before being told, so we left, leaving the pub empty, and walked upto the Dog Friendly Cheshire Cheese. So its bye bye to The White Gates, and Hello to the Cheshire Cheese just up the road - with a lot more choice of ales and lagers.

   Staff ok but asked for my beer to be topped up was told no ,it wasn't a measure glass so as we know a pint is to top of glass tried to point this out to be shouted down by the regulars telling me if I didn't like it drink elsewhere .all I want was a full pint tried to ex the rulers which fell on deaf ears

   Sam Smith's pub. Always enjoy going back here. Glad to say it hasn't changed since the last visit in 2019. A very friendly place where the locals will not ignore, but involve you in their conversation. This is a real pub.

   Great little pub in Hyde but unfortunately they put their prices up by over £1 a pint I used to go in regular but now after the price increase due to the coronavirus it's crossed off my list. If you don't mind paying premium prices there's lot of history and decor in there especially at the back room.
