It was cheap enough and plenty of character but we didn't feel overly welcome

Very warm and friendly pub. No mobile phones allowed which is brilliant. My kids(adults) were with us and chatted away more than I've seen before. Pleasant staff, nice fire, very clean and cosy. A little gem.

This one is an institution in Stockport! If you love a good old traditional pub - this one's for you. I loved the interior inside, it has a few nice rooms with a few tables and comfy benches. Also a side room with a booth which gives the pub this cosy and warm feeling. Being a Sam Smith's pub they only sell Tadcaster brewery's beers - bitter on cask and few lagers on keg also quite a few bottled beers. What else can you ask for? Bar staff were nice and friendly (especially if you are a City fan). The only downside of the place is like most Sam Smith's pubs you can't pay on card so make sure you bring some CASH with you. Overall it is a great pub and I'm definitely coming back.

Really nice warm cosy feel, separate drinking compartments open fires ...good selection of ales spirits and very cheap , will come again .

Have visited this place on a number of occasions. It is a Sam Smith's pub so they only sell their own brewed beers but the prices are very reasonable. Friendly staff and I guess that mainly older patrons (like myself) will enjoy visits to this pub. There is an open fire during the cold weather. A traditional pub that you can access from the main street by descending steps.
