Cracking old style boozer with plenty of choice on the cask ale front. The various rooms are quite intimate. Toilets unfortunately are now indoors unlike the old days.

An absolutely fantastic return to form; a tremendous selection of quality bears that, more importantly, are kept perfectly. It's just a tremendous pub once again.

Dog friendly (not seen in any other reviews/descriptions.) Great pub with a few different seating areas, and a large rear beer garden, for those nicer days. Lots of different beers ales and lagers on tap.

Great addition to Stockport beer offer. The Kernel was rated as "the best beer I have tried in recent years" by the other half. The pork scratchings are dangerously delicious too. It's a proper pub. No frills. We loved it.

Absolutely wonderful. The Petersgate Tap team have done a stellar job in bringing back this absolute gem of a traditional, multi-roomed pub. Excellent, perfectly kept cask and keg beer, a friendly greeting on arrival and a great suntrap of a beer garden with views of the viaduct. Welcome back!

Most unfriendly establishment I've ever visited. Waited 5 minutes for someone to attend. There wasn't anyone else at the bar. When the bar tender finally appeared, just grunted at me. No manners either. Finished my drink quickly and left. Edit after reponse No German Sheppard, definitely the right place. I ordered a Becks and double Jameson. Saturday afternoon around 4.30pm. I sat bar side on the table with the stool.

What have they done to this beautiful old pub? It still got the old furniture but they've just splashed white (?) paint on the walls and it now looks odd. Further, they have stuck screens on the walls which do nothing but advertise the pub itself. The final insult was the constant muzak that would embarrass a lift. It still has a wide selection of beers. We left at 9.15 on a Friday night and there were only 2 others left. This in a pub that used to be packed.

Excellent improvement under new management. Good beer choice and quality, friendly welcome. They also do some food now, though I haven't tried it yet.

First time visit since it reopened. A good selection of real ales. My first pint was off but it was quickly replaced with an alternative. The bar man was friendly and attentive. The place feels and looks better but managing to keep its original features and old world charms. A big improvement.
