Love this pub, been going in for years. Good old fashioned drinking pub with great atmosphere. At the heart of Didsbury village
It’s Great this little pub in didsbury, Tom and julie licensee’s make you feel very welcome. Good selection of beverages and great offers on selected beers. There is always a good atmosphere locals are great company, bar staff are friendly and go the extra mile for customers . tv’s showing latest sport and the well known fresh cheese board it’s definitely a little gem well worth a visit ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We called in to try the cheese lunch. £9 for a choice of three cheeses or a mix of cheese and pate, with sliced brown bread. We decided to just get one serving as the cheese was a good size between two. We chose cheddar, Shropshire blue and the duck and orange pate. The only downside was there were no pork pies, we did go early on a Monday. My partner just had a lager and I had a blackcurrant juice. Amy behind the bar was so friendly and helpful and promised the pork pies would be in later that day, so will definitely return to try them. Hence the 4/5 **** The pub was quiet but it was 12noon on a sunny Monday. They had a couple of tv’s on showing the sports, Wimbledon etc. I didn’t take any photos of our cheese as we delved straight in. We will definitely return. Thanks.
First came here in the late 1970's. Always been a gem of a Marston's pub. Thus having a great pint of Pedigree. Famous for the lunchtime cheese and pate selection. In the old days the massive cheeses were displayed on the bar and cut to order. Carried in and out from upstairs every lunchtime. Doggie bags a must due to the amount of cheese, pate, bread and pickles. Despite a fire the pub is little changed.( The Music Hall posters did not survive.) Still do cheese but portioned. £7.50 for choice of three..cheese/pate, bread and pickles. Still great value. TV for sport. Lots of locals.
The beer is cheaper than all of the yuppie bars in the village where 2 pints cost me over £11 for goodness sake! The thing I didn't like about it was the floors were really sticky. It's an okay bar. Better than a lot of the pretentious one knocking about
Had a lovely afternoon in here on New year's day. The young man remembered our drinks ordered every time without being reminded, which was great service . I was in again on Wednesday for my friend's wake and my pint was on the bar before I had even asked! Fantastic customer service. We will be back.
Quite easily the best run pub in Didsbury. Top notch proper attentive bar staff reflect the super high standards of the landlord and lady. Then there's the great value for money with constantly well kept beer in a lovely, friendly and always spotless environment. Do not visit Didsbury without having a drink in The Royal Oak. The standard by which all pubs should be run......
Pub under New Management and work being done, new heaters today and benches tomorrow, with the famous cheese and pate being brought back next month. Management and staff giving regular updates on improvements. Glad to see this pub being made great again as it wained for a while. Look forward to some great nights in here again.
A Great Traditional Non Pretentious Pub. Great Selection Of Beers & Lager. Friendly Bar Staff. Sit out on a lovely sunny Day and Enjoy a good Pint at a very reasonable price.
