It’s neither here nor there — other than its location, but the staff have made a lot of effort here, and the beer (specifically Guinness) seems to be the cheapest in the area but it is scruffy, and after a while you can’t help but feel that Greene King are nothing more than a more expensive Wetherspoons
Superb meal - would recommend - I had the Scampi and Arthur had all day breakfast - could not fault anything - especially for the price, here is a photo of their Sunday lunch - 2 for £11:49
Menus absolutely filthy and sticky. Tables the same. It should be clean the 1st time and every time. Typical greenking with portion control. Tiny portions and about 12 chips. The chicken in the curry is like it has been boiled and if u order a naan u only get half. This could be a nice place if they get rid of greenking
Called in on Saturday and wow what a fantastic atmosphere. So friendly and they don't rip you off with the prices, definitely be calling in again xx
The pub has changed drastically with Danny and elaine taking over. The pub seems like it's being run properly and efficiently. The bar staff are lovely and friendly and the food is amazing , good priced beer and lovely people. My new local and I wouldn't go anywhere else at the moment.
Fabulous new menu I had the katsu chicken curry cook to perfection we also had a build your own burger which were delicious.Great staff especially stephanie who gave a warm welcome but all the staff were great so big shout out to Michelle, Ellen,Emma,Danielle and all the rest of the staff THERE IS ALSO A BRAND NEW CHEF Will go there again
~ Incredibly disappointing.... Arrived there at 12:55, ordered food at 12:59, it seemed like the guy at the bar was very new so no fault on his part, but did manage to add stuff to the order then we had the food removed from the order. The (what we believe was the manager?) seemed to be giving the new lad a pretty hard time, telling him off in front of the people in the pub, which I found to be very embarrassing for the member of staff. ~ Now, there was only 5 groups of people in the whole pub at the time, and we only ordered 2 meals and remember we ordered food at 12:59, the food arrived at 13:55.... almost a full hour to wait for food. ~ There was absolutely no cutlery or condiments brought to us and the staff member, who we believed to be the manager, told us to get our own from 'over there'. ~ One of the forks we did get was covered in EGG! Please clean your cutlery. Same with the pint glasses, some were FILTHY! ~ For my portion anyway firstly, they didnt bring the mango sauce which should come with it, or the nan bread. The poppadoms were somehow burnt? How do you manage to burn something that's usually served cold? The rice tasted like plastic, the curry itself was fine but its still unacceptable to get food this poorly done while having almost an hour wait; considering the pub was incredibly quiet at this time. In contrast to another Green King pub I usually go to 'The White Barn' I order the exact same meals and the place it usually 50x busier than Golden Hind, yet the service in The White Barn is incredibly faster, I'm talking about a 10 minute wait for 5 meals, not an hours wait for 2. ~ Another note, the person I was with had chips, but they were a mix of French Fries and regular large chips? Just felt super lazy. ~ Again with the 'new' staff member who was wearing glasses, he may have been new, yes he was making mistakes, but the manager publicly humiliating him like he did was horrible and just makes the manager look bad, especially when he was saying his job is on the line here ect.... it's incredibly unprofessional, do that in the back, not in-front of your customers. ~ We really really wanted to like this place, but the long wait when there was hardly anyone there, combined with the dirty cutlery and glasses, and poor service, and really rude manager, we wont be returning. ~ Now I'm more than certain the manager didn't mean to come across as rude, but customers do NOT want to see you tell off staff members and make them all red faced in front of us.
