I visited this bar recently with my partner while on a short trip to Manchester. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere itself was nice. However, I feel it’s important to mention an unpleasant situation we experienced so the management is aware. During our visit, several male customers behaved inappropriately towards us. First, while my partner was away for a moment, a man in his early thirties wearing a tracksuit approached me uninvited, stood far too close, and made unwanted comments. When I responded sarcastically, he laughed and walked away, but the interaction was uncomfortable and unnecessary. Later, another younger man and an older, visibly intoxicated customer—who seemed to know other people at the bar—came to our table making uncomfortable jokes about us being “alone.” After the younger man left, the older one stayed and continued making disrespectful and misogynistic comments, not only towards us but also towards another woman who was sitting quietly by herself. None of this reflects on the staff, who were kind throughout our stay, but I believe it’s important to highlight that this type of behaviour can make women—especially queer women—feel unsafe. I hope the management can be aware of these incidents to help ensure the bar remains a welcoming and respectful environment for everyone.
