We only came here for a drink, but this is one of the coolest bars I’ve been to! A former crypt, the interior really is like sitting in history. Decent atmosphere too. It is a Greene King, but one of the best GKs I’ve been to personally!
Been coming here for many years before it was a Green King pub. First visit under the Green King ownership and it didn't disappoint, quite the opposite. I need to mention the chap with the beard behind the bar on the evening of Thursday 20th November, what a pleasure he was. Fantastic friendly service a breath of fresh air. Food and drink were fab too. Been to Green Kings all over the country and this was one of the best. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Saw this place while looking online for interesting bars to go while we were at Chester for a few days break, it's a strange kinda place with a lot of history with it's multiple cellar type rooms for you to enjoy food and drink from, service was great and it wasn't too busy when we popped in, it's worth a visit if you want something a bit different, as for the range of food on offer they have everything from fish and chips to steak, i would recommend you Pop in for a drink or two and soak up the strange surroundings.
A cozy pub with with a lot of history and architecture. Way bigger than what appears from outside. Staff are very friendly and hospitable. They do a have a few screens with sports on, but unsure what events are covered. Did not try any food as the kitchen was closed but the menu appears to have a fair selection.
Mostly go there early doors for a drink but have also eaten there. Beautiful building and well looked after. Friendly staff, good variety of drinks and nice food. The secret roof terrace is brilliant in summer
So good Great drinks, good entertainment...thought the staff not too friendly but only a first impression.
Awesome feeling and atmosphere. Its an okd crypt so full of character. Great choice of food and drink. Firendly service. Would recommend..check it out
Excellent service from our server ,food was very nice , chicken wings tasted as though they were boiled then fried so we're the least tasty , sausages the best ,their are steps in to the building,your in the cellar with amazing sandstone arches
Very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, amazing place full of historical interest the venue is like a TARDIS from the entrance off the main Street it opens up draws you in and goes on an on with its medieval architecture,a good sized bar,food and drinks menu's have a vast choice to suit everyone,didn't sample food this time but will definitely sample next time after seeing some of the quality food coming out of the kitchen.
