Quoted price was increased once the job was done. When I made the appointment by phone I requested my hair be cut by a stylist as opposed to the upper-level stylists. As I only needed dead ends removing and a fringe cut which is a simple job. Prior to the appointment the salon informed me Charlotte would be cutting my hair and that the service would cost £30.00. When I arrived, I asked for the dead ends cut and for my fringe to be cut in a way that does not hang over my glasses to much as my hair had grown very long and my fringe was obstructing my view. Charlotte suggested a straight cut when removing the dead ends in the main body of my hair and in turn removed most of my layers. This actually looked quite nice, and I was happy with this however the same cannot be said for the fringe cut that still hangs off my glasses. Whilst I firmly believe Charlotte was doing her best and trying to create a fringe that would work for me I felt the style did not suit and explained on two separate occasions during the session that I wanted the fringe cut more in a step cut style. I’m not sure if there was confusion as to what I requested but not wanting to make a scene or offend Charlottes efforts I decided to accept the fringe after all it is only hair and it can be restyled, cut or even grow back so not the end of the world. However, when I paid for the service Charlotte charged £35.00, which is the price of a style director. This was very sneaky given I was originally quoted £30.00. whilst I was not 100% happy with my hair cut I was still planning to tip Charlotte £5.00 as I am a firm believer in tipping your hairdresser, they work very hard and deserve recognition for the time they spend on your hair. As the service charge was increased at last minute I decided not to tip Charlotte as far as I was concerned she had already received her tip through increasing the price of the service. Whilst it did not affect the amount I planned to spend in total I did feel it was slightly unprofessional to increase the final bill. Which is why I have given one star and also why I will not be returning to their salon for future cuts. I have booked in with a different hairdresser tomorrow who have kindly offered to fix my fringe for free.

Billy is a lovely man and very charming but he can't cut short styles. I was going to go back to the salon on Saturday but I really don't want to give him a chance to hack any more off what hair I have left.

I’m only giving 2 Stars as I’m not happy with the colouring on the top of my head. I wanted a full head of highlights and I mentioned to the person that my roots are dark because I only go to the hair dressers every 3 months that’s why they are so dark etc,,,, so in other words I need to get my hair sorted. he said he will put something on my roots to make it look better but it will be a bit darker so when my roots grow out it won’t be so bad. I mentioned will it go back to blonde and he said yes, I am a-bit confused as I’m thinking now My roots have not grown yet and all I wanted was a fresh blonde highlights I did show photos and my hair is nothing like the pictures. The blonde colour on part of my hair is lovely and clean, but I did want blonde all over. when my hair was wet my hair looked very ginger brown on the top and I kept asking will it go blonde when it is dry he said yes,,,,when blowdried it was a bit darker which I did not want, he should never of added a dark colour to my head that I didn’t ask for and he should of explained better. When I put my hair up at home after been blow away by the wind i was shocked it was dark all over the whole top of my head and it was a completely a different colour to my pony tail. The funny thing is I mentioned my roots grow out dark as I’m a mousey blonde naturally but I wanted fresh clean blonde hair ready in time for Christmas and ever since Tuesday 18th I’ve done nothing but wash hair to strip the ginger. I did show pics to the hairdresser on his WhatsApp he said just keep washing it and it will go back to blonde. God knows why he used this stuff on my hair as my roots take 3 weeks to roughly grow out so It don’t make sense. I paid £110.00 now my hair is so dull on top. I decided I won’t be going back there any more. The people are lovely but I’m there to have my hair done and walk away happy, very sorry I’m not happy. It’s the 18th Jan a month in from having my hair done and it’s no different to when I visited the hairdressers, it’s still dark, I did ring the hair dresses a week after my hair and a lady answered the phone passing the message back and forth to the person who did my hair and all he said is keep washing it,,,,, also I mentioned can I use my blue shampoo to strip it off he said give it two weeks, and my hair is still dark on the whole of my head.. He should of said come and see me and let’s see what we can do,,,, £110 wasted, my roots are only just started to grown out and it blends in with the dark he applied to my head. The first picture is Now 2024 all the others photos are from December 18th 2023

Fabulous hair salon and every stylist I've had is exceptional no matter what level. I am more than happy to wing it and see if any one of them is available for a cut. I went today after 18 months due to breaking my knee and Nichola did my hair. Not only did she do a fabulous job, she gave me some really valuable advice. Even John Lee commented on the cut and I felt like a million dollars leaving the salon after a really difficult 12 months. Even the hair wash and massage was fabulous ....and they have tvs too now! For me, this is the best salon in Bolton and each and every one of the stylists and staff are quite frankly fabulous. I cannot praise them enough and unbeknown to them, they also helped me out massively when I first broke my knee by washing my hair. I still have to properly thank them for that and I will do. Thank you John Lee and your team.... you are all fabulous!

My mum went here for a haircut and a colour. The haircut was good, but the colour was awful. Asked for a brown colour but got a orange-red colour. 'Tried' to fix it with brown toner. Stylist said it was chocolate brown and other stylist backed her up. Definitely not a chocolate brown colour, toner fades, look like an absolute mess now. Disgusted at the attitude of saying a fadeable toner 'fixes' it. Paid a lot of money for a messup.

I have achieved being a very blonde with John Lee. The team at John Lee Guys have always been awesome , very approachable and full of smiles. My favourite thing about my visits is how focused and disability positive each member of the team are which is positively refreshing. John Lee is truly endearing to each of his clients and it really resonates in the beautiful surroundings of the salon. I'd definitely give him 10/10 in every aspect of hairdressing and customer care. I've always left the salon feeling totally pampered.
