So, I arrive at Atlantic Timber in Broadheath, drawn there, of course, in search of wood. A most ordinary material, and yet, when you think about it, wood is the backbone of our lives. It grows silently for decades, centuries even, before we humans cut it, shape it, and put it to use. And in my case, the task was humble but urgent: repairing my child’s bed, whose slats had been shattered under the relentless bouncing of a youngster full of boundless energy, as if rehearsing for life in the wild. Now, stepping into a timber yard without much knowledge is like wandering into a dense forest without a guide. The varieties, the choices, the potential, it can be overwhelming. But here, among the stacks of pine, oak, and sleeper, I encountered a worker, a true craftsman. He listened attentively, like a patient naturalist, to the tale of the broken bed. Then, with quiet confidence, he offered a solution far more efficient and affordable than the crude plan I had first imagined. With careful precision, he cut the off-cuts to the exact size required, each slice of the saw like the call of some industrious creature in its element. And then the master of the place, the boss himself, appeared gave a nod, agreed the price, and in that moment, the transaction was sealed. Happy days. Atlantic Timber, I discovered, is not merely a shop but a trove of possibilities: doors, ladders, railway sleepers, tools all the artefacts of human habitation, standing there like specimens in a great collection. And the men who run it, seasoned and knowledgeable, are like keepers of an ancient tradition, guiding others with skill and honesty. In short, it is a place where expertise meets integrity. I would return again, and recommend it to anyone seeking not just wood, but the wisdom that comes with it.
Used Atlantic Timber many times for some pretty big DIY projects and always had great service and great quality products.
I came here to get a skirting board matched after looking everywhere else and being recommended by the flooring shop I used, and they were great here. They were able to find me a pretty close match to mine with the same profile which was great. Huge variety of stuff in here, you can also get stuff cut to size which is handy
I came in the shop yesterday and was after a piece of solid wood to go on the top of my office desk, as the top of my desk was starting to look rather worn. I asked for some help and gave a member of staff the measurements, from start to finish the service was excellent showed me all the options I could choose from cut the wood to size there and then and even loaded it into my car for me very impressed would use again and recommend to others! Also price very reasonable, Many thanks

Great place! Just wish there were more like this across the country. Supplied & cut the shelving material needed - difficult to get anywhere else unless you are trade & wanted big quantities. Helpful & quick service. Recommended.
Staff really can't be bothered, they would be much happier if you just left. And you probably will after seeing the prices.
Very impressive shop and workshop, nice staff , quick and easy pick up . They even cut the timber for me. Would definately use them again
ordered 2 lengths of cornice from them. one was good the other full of knot holes, emailed them with photos and was told "its a live product so will have holes and i was to fill them" they have basically sent the rubbish lengths out to mail order customers to get rid of them.
