My journey to this establishment began ironically not with a growling stomach, but with the distinct feeling that I was about to walk into a deep cover intelligence exchange. The road leading to the shop felt like a forgotten set piece from a Jason Bourne movie: dimly lit, mysteriously wet, and filled with shadows. Inside, the atmosphere was thick with a palpable tension. The other patrons weren't just waiting they were engaged in a low level, continuous surveillance of the street, the counter and occasionally, my own soul. Every customer looked over their shoulder with the intensity of a man who just witnessed a state secret being shared via napkin. I genuinely looked around for an exit strategy thinking Well, this might be the night I finally meet my ancestors. At least I'll die on the scent of garlic sauce. The box, however, promised a meal worthy of a king's ransom. It was large. Alarmingly large. I assumed I was about to open a culinary treasure chest a bed of roses, perhaps, or at least a small mountain of delicately carved chicken. Instead, I found a minimalist diorama: a beautifully laid bed of well intentioned chips surrounding a single, tightly compressed pita wrap. This thing wasn't just wrapped it was cinched. I'd venture to say the folding was more meticulously, desperately tight than the noose on Jeffrey Epstein's neck. It was a structural marvel designed to ensure that not a single molecule of chicken could escape its cottony prison. Friends, I have served in the military. I have consumed food prepared by men whose only discernible talent was boiling things until they achieved petrified status. Army food, often described as being tougher than fighting an actual war, is something I know well. But this shawarma... this chicken was different. It didn't just resist being chewed it actively fought back. The first bite was less a culinary experience and more a physical confrontation. I am convinced that the chicken used in this wrap was not meat, but rather a fragment of ancient tectonic plate. It was tougher than my grandmother's shoe the very same orthopedic monstrosity she wore to church and could probably withstand a small bomb blast. Every single chew was a rep from a weightlifting routine I hadn't signed up for. My jaw muscles were tested to their absolute limit. This wasn't dinner it was strength training. I spent twenty minutes in a silent battle with this poultry relic, staring into the middle distance and questioning every life choice that led me to this moment of masticatory agony. If you are looking for a meal that offers flavour, tenderness, and an enjoyable experience, look elsewhere. If, however, you require a chew toy for a pitbull, or a piece of chicken that can be carbon dated and studied by geologists, then Mayyil has exactly what you need.

We went there to try the beef Shwarma wrap it was delicious and then we decided to order more, we tried the lebanese burger and Batata wrap . The place is perfect for a quick and delicious meal

The food was a mixed experience. While the sandwich tasted ok and felt like comfort food, it was extremely greasy and messy to eat. No points for presentation! The service was friendly, but the decor is quite worn, and the general cleanliness of the seating area could be improved. It's a fine option if you need something quick, but expect a very casual, no frills experience.

In the heart of Kingston’s hustle and bustle — there’s MAYYIL. A true gem that stands out not just for its food, but for its soul. The team here is incredibly warm and welcoming — every staff member and manager brings their own personality and charm, yet they all share one thing in common: genuine hospitality. You can feel it the moment you walk in. The food? Absolutely fantastic. Prepared right in front of you, it guarantees freshness, warmth, and the unmistakable flavors of authentic Lebanese fast food done right. Every bite feels crafted with care and heart. MAYYIL isn’t just a place to eat — it’s a vibe. A harmonious blend of good food, great people, and Kingston’s vibrant energy. A definite must-visit for anyone in the area!

The place is crowded and there are many orders. The beef shawarma is amazing. The chicken shawarma is excellent, but the garlic flavor is sharp — personally, I don’t prefer it that way.

Easy to find, quickly cooked and served, great customer service and absolutely excellent food! I had the chicken shawarma wrap And my husband had the beef: yum! We are already talking about when we will come back next.

Tasty bite, very friendly service, and nice music. Food well presented and served hot. Seating area is small so it wouldn't handle a bigger number of people but other than this, it's highly recommended

Very pleased how welcomed me and a friend were made feel in this place! One employee helped me to order and another served me and a friend. Both were young; they had excellent eye contact, interest in how we like our food, kindness, -all that left very positive impression. I liked some Lebanese(?) posters on white and blue geometricaly patterned walls. See if you know any words. I did! There is limited space at the tables, but while you wait people leave, so a takaway is not the only option. The food was very nice. The only drawback - very salty and there were no drinks without sugar and no tap water. That better change! There is a very good pub opposite, so must be some tough competition on this corner, although obviously two places are different. I'd say Beit El Zaytoun defenetly worth a try!

I wasn't very impressed with the beef sharwama as it was very very dry. I was all excited and looking forward as I thought I would be getting the authentic Lebanese sharwama however I wasn't too keen after eating it though I had it the following day. Perhaps if I had it fresh there and then I would have a different opinion. Those that bought the chicken sharwama in our party said that it was Def really good. This cafe style place is on the high street or Knightsbridge, about 5mins walk from Harrods and the tube station. Parking is risky here and there is no toilet facility as expected because it is really small. They have a payment point where you can pay and get your ticket for collection but this was faulty so best to pay at the till. It is opposite a pub if that helps with directions. I personally will rate it a 6/10
