One of the best and most varied choices of escape rooms out there, so much to do, so much fun and the team running it are absolutely first class. Just book it!
First time at Compendium in Bury ... usually go to one of the other escape rooms in Manchester and Rawtenstall, this one was recommended by a friend. Four of us had the most amazing time in the Bedlam Escape Room. The puzzles and challenges are set in different spaces, there's a crawl through section leading into the 3rd space. Great fun and challenging and definitely needed to work as a team. Don't want to say much more about the game, and spoil the fun for anyone going here. Alex was our host and he is a fabulous, friendly guy. Will be back for our next challenge .... This is our new go to escape rooms .... RECOMMENDED
Wonderful staff, very friendly and were spot on with giving us clues - definitely let us enjoy the room and work things out ourselves but also knew the perfect moment to intervene! Really enjoyed my first ever experience here - did the Bedlam room with a group of 5. Tucked away so well you might miss it- up 2 flights of stairs in case that’s an issue! Read the description carefully- it will highlight whether any crawling is required. I am planning to come back for my birthday this week- would really recommend this, you won’t be disappointed and the staff will make sure you have a fab experience!
Had a great day doing the bedlam escape room (we needed a lot of help) as first time experience. Luke was beyond helpful and put us at ease immediately and suprisingly we got out with 40secs to spare. Great experience worth a visit. Thanks luke for your help and hospitallity
(Visited June 2025) The Laboratory and Bedlam are some of my highest-rated games, so I came back to Compendium with friends to tackle Wrong Turn and UI-55. Again, both offered top-class theming thanks to dedicated craftsmanship and attention to detail. The same applies to the puzzles: these are escape rooms done proper. * (Visited Nov 2021) My friend and I came for two escapes back-to-back: Bedlam and Laboratory. Both had excellent themes and associated puzzles. There was an exciting focus on teamwork, which really added to the experience. I was sometimes distracted by how much fun I was having! Our host was very friendly and conscious of how much help we did (or didn’t!) want. We broke out both times and are looking forward to completing the other two rooms.
One of the best escape room companies I've been to. I've done three of their rooms and they are very inventive and different to most places. You can't go fail to have a good time here, even if you don't usually like escape rooms.
I completed the Bedlam room with some friends for a Birthday celebration - we escaped with 30 seconds left! Fantastic escape room and our host was a really friendly staff member. Excellent at giving clues when needed and very polite. I would love to return and try out some other rooms. I definitely recommend this place!

Having heard amazing things about Compendium, myself and 6 friends decided to play UI-55 last week. Some of us are experienced players and other not so much and we found that there were puzzles to suit all levels of experience. We worked solidly right up to the last second (which is no small feat for a group of 7!) which we really enjoyed! The game space is huge and well decorated and the game itself is super unique and a refreshing change of pace to traditional games. Our game master was welcoming, enthusiastic and provided well paced clues when needed. We will definitely be back!
