Shame about the terrible service at the counter. The gal at the counter was unfriendly, and terribly off putting. Unfortunate as this cafe is usually delightful

Fantastic independent coffee shop doing breakfast, brunch and bakes on weekdays. Staff are really friendly, interior warm and homely. Excellent selection of cakes and food on offer. Accidentally discovered Coffee Stop when getting my brakes changed at a nearby garage. Spent a happy hour or so with two Flat Whites, a breakfast burrito and a chocolate brownie. Freshly made, beautiful food, served with a smile. Look forward to returning again soon.
We've been visiting this cafe on a weekly basis for a good few months now. Food and coffee are really good however the owner's rudeness sours the whole experience. There is no flexibility with the menu to the extent that they will not offer plain toast or muffins only fruit toast. This may seem a trivial complaint but how difficult would it be to comply with the request. Surely this is poor customer service. When I did pluck up the courage to complain about my coffee on a particular occasion I was told by another member of staff they would happily make another one for me. When the owner saw that I'd returned my coffee he marched down the cafe with the coffee in his hand asking me what was wrong with it. He didn't wait for me to finish my reply before turning his back and stomping away. These are just two examples of his rudeness and inflexibility. It's a shame that such a lovely place is overshadowed by his attitude. We've given him the benefit of the doubt previously but feel it is now time to give our custom to somewhere that might appreciate it.
Been coming here for a few years now. Nice breakfasts, not the cheapest but nicely prepared and decent coffee. Today I had my brunch and my wife turned up at 2:01. Sorry kitchen is closed, fair enough, can I just order a coffee then, eyeing the coffee machine that was still on. No! That’s closed too. I hadn’t paid so my tab was still open. I consider myself a regular, the staff even give dog biscuits to my two dogs and the occasional sausage. Given that Coffee Stop is not a chain, I’m disappointed by the clock watching and inflexibility. I found in business it’s the small things that cost nothing ate the things that people remember. Am I being too critical? - You decide. The result is I will be more selective on where I spend my money in future.
Ham salad sandwich was good especially the brown bread, however where this place excels is the coffee!! I don't think you will find a better coffee in Wakefield especially not from the chain shops. Tastefully done interior and the place is cycle and dog friendly
