This was my third Chinese visa application and the first since the introduction of the Online Approval System. I submitted my application online and within 24 hours I was informed that my application needed amending. After re-submitting the application, it was approved within 2 hours. I went to the visa centre in person a few days after and I was all done within an hour. Pick up of my passport and visa was three days later on the regular service and the collection took less than half an hour. Solomon on the front desk is a lovely guy!

They have really improved their service since introducing the online booking form! I applied in October and my application was rejected after a day. I fixed it and it was accepted the next day. Visited the centre on. Monday at 9:40am with my passport and a printed confirmation slip that was in the email. I paid and was out 30 minutes later! I took one star off because although it says online that cash or card is accepted, the lady at the counter was very pushy that I pay by card. Picked up my passport smoothly on Friday at 10:40. It was a bit busier upstairs than when I visited on Monday. I had 8 people in front of me at pickup and was out 20 mins later! Such an improvement from being there for 4-5 hours when I applied in 2023!

I must say what great service in my case, despite my visa application been rejected twice, after online review completed, the wait time of 47 applicants ahead of me inside the Visa Centre took approximately 90 minutes from start to finish on a Tuesday morning. Efficient and friendly service, in particular Solomon at reception who kindly advised me passport photos are not normally needed once you received the email with the Visa Application Certificate. However, remember to print this document. Having the certificate on your phone will not be accepted. My visa will be ready for collection Friday. Om collection day, straight in and out in less than 5 minutes.

Came on an October 2025 Monday morning for a visa application, and whole experience took 70 mins. Arrived around 9:20 am and receptionist gave me a #66 queue ticket. Waited 35 mins to drop off documents - thanks to new online visa system, I only had to bring my passport & printed application certificate (emailed to you once the online review is done). Then I was given another queue ticket to go pay downstairs. Waited another 20 mins, and paid in cash as their card machine was broken. Bring cash just in case this happens again as many people had to go find an ATM last minute! Left with a pickup ticket to return on Thursday to collect my passport. Overall smooth experience with courteous, helpful staff.

I had a really great experience at the Chinese Embassy in London. A staff member named Suleman was very friendly and spoke with me in a helpful, respectful way. The toilets were clean, the atmosphere was quiet, and there was no waiting at all. I submitted my passport on Monday and was told to collect it on Fridayβ€”exactly as promised. Super efficient and smooth from start to finish.

It is not difficult to book appointments and the charge is not that expensive. Compare to European visa centre, this is far better in everything.

Very professional and helpful. I had the visa in 4 days. The reception guy called Solomon is amazing. He is helpful and full of love and fun.

Picking up passports was a nightmare during lunchtime. The queue was very long and only one person was working and she also was having chit chat with another colleague who was not working at all.

Staff has bad attitude and try to teach me a lesson by clicking his pen and tossing the documents. However, he did seem to have a pleasant conversation with a foreigner (non-Chinese) applying for the Chinese visa. The website was not comprehensive in providing the guidance, which leads additional photocopy to do, which took me two hours to complete the whole process. Also the staff try to educate me about not to exploit due nationality, which I obviously did not because I came to apply for visa to visit my family in China, using my British passport! Also the application form that are required to fill online, does not seem to extract all the information I filled in, some which I need to fill manually. The visa centre is supposed to be the 'gate' for China, but it has shown a bad image, and let us down, absolutely disappointed about the service.
