I submitted my Canadian transit visa application on time and completed my biometrics immediately. My biometrics were marked as completed on October 1st, and since then I’ve been waiting for a simple confirmation letter that never arrived. It has now been four weeks, and despite sending multiple follow-up emails and even trying to call, I never received any reply. Because of this unreasonable delay, I lost my flights for October 24th, which I had booked and paid for weeks in advance. This was only a transit visa, not a tourist or work visa, yet the process was painfully slow and there was absolutely no communication or update from IRCC or the visa office in London. I truly hope IRCC improves its processing transparency and responsiveness, because what should have been a simple process has caused a lot of stress, expense, and disappointment.

VFS Global = Worst company in history. They exist only because people who want to visit other countries have no alternative and are forced to rely on them. Everything is unprofessional. Their website is so full of bugs and glitches that you feel like you need calming medicine just to open it. Their staff are rude, condescending, and treat you like you are stupid. Moreover, they make everything unnecessarily confusing. You receive an email saying you need to schedule an appointment to pick up your documents. You then go to their website, which also says you need an appointment, but when you try to schedule one there are no available slots. You waste hours trying to figure it out, only to call them and find out that you do not actually need an appointment at all. Why is it so difficult to update a website and email? I wish countries would stop outsourcing important government services to greedy profit-driven companies.

I submitted my application for a transit visa on August 3rd, with my flight scheduled for September 8th. Despite this, I only received my first communication on August 22nd, and then again on September 2nd, when I was finally asked to upload the Biometrics Instructions Letter. By then, the portal link provided was crashing repeatedly, and I was never offered an appointment date. Out of desperation, I contacted the helpline almost every day, but the assistance I received was minimal. In the end, I went personally to the visa application center, only to be told that they could not help me and that I would not be able to travel due to processing times. What makes this situation particularly devastating is the reason for my trip: I was traveling to Cuba to collect my father’s ashes. I explained this several times, hoping for some degree of understanding or support, but I was met instead with a stunning lack of empathy. I find it unacceptable that the IRCC portal only contacted me as late as September 2nd, when my flight was already on the 8th, leaving me with no chance to resolve the issue. This forced me to cancel my flight, resulting in the loss of hundreds of pounds, as well as a painful delay in bringing closure to my family. This experience has left me in shock and profoundly disappointed. The lack of clear communication, transparency, and compassion throughout this process has been unacceptable. As a result, I can say with certainty that I will never again fly with Air Canada and will avoid visiting Canada altogether.

I submitted my Canadian tourist visa application on 4th May 2025. It took some time before I was asked to attend a biometric enrolment, which I completed on 27th May—just a few days after receiving the request. Now, two weeks later, the portal still shows that biometric enrolment is required. I’ve submitted multiple web forms requesting that my biometric status be updated, but no one has responded. There’s no way to speak to a real person—calls are routed through an automated system that makes it impossible to get any help. The whole process is incredibly slow and frustrating. You realistically need to allow 3–4 months just to get a tourist visa, which is completely unreasonable. The lack of communication and support makes the experience unnecessarily stressful.

As expected, the centre was busy, and there were long queues. The security guard was doing his best to manage the crowd, though some families were jumping the queue constantly. Despite the chaos, I found the front desk staff to be efficient and pleasant - however, the staff inside the Canadian biometric rooms were unnecessarily rude and condescending. Rather than providing clear instructions with basic courtesy, they seemed to go out of their way to make you feel feel small, unworthy, and humiliated. As someone who works with children and the general public daily, I understand the importance of being clear and professional, and it takes an extra effort to be as unpleasant as they were. Given the constant demand for biometric appointments, it’s likely that the centre will always be busy, but that shouldn’t justify such poor treatment. Honestly, the entire process could be streamlined with automated biometric machines, eliminating the need for such negative interactions and making the experience far more efficient and respectful.

I'd like to admit online services provided - they're excellent! The best I've met in England. They responded very quickly to my email and solved my problem within a couple of minutes. Also I was assisted on the helpline - amazing! They picked up the call immediately, no waiting at all and polite attitude! Best customer service. Thank you!

Cannot really fault the staff, arrived for 8:30 and it’s like a cattle market. It’s everyone for themselves so be prepared to have people pushing their way in. I came for my biometrics appointment for a Canadian visa. Make sure all documents are printed like the invitation letter, biometrics appointment letter, etc before you go as you won’t be allowed in for your appointment and will be told to print and come back. The staff try their best to do their job so I felt a bit sorry for them. Just be prepared! It’s very busy! Once I was give a ticket number I was in and out within 10 mins.

I have waited 4 months for my straight forward visitor visa application. I tried to call, email and submit webform many times. I got no response back,my trip was in December . I paid 1000 Pounds already but now I have lose it all. I had a good impression about Canada but this interaction is absolutely dreadful. still no visa. 4 months now. Cancelled trip. Lost all the money and my insurance won't cover it. What a disgrace

I used to think that Canada is a better country than the USA but unfortunately Canada is as difficult and unwelcoming as their neighbours. For a simple tourist visa, they make you sit for hours filling out forms in a very clunky website, then they charge you over £100 for your own time, then they force you to take time off work to go to a local 3rd party agency, where the staff speaks to people with a condescending tone that resembles soldiers yelling at POWs, and when you finally reach the appointment they send you back home if you didn’t print out all paperwork they inundate your inbox with. My time is precious to me, and so is my dignity. I deserve to be treated with respect especially given that all I wanted is to have a good time travelling the beautiful country Canada seems to be. And spend money there. As a result, I will just cancel my flights and go somewhere where I am more welcome. Canada: Don’t be like them. You can do better. You should do better.
