What an unpleasant experience I had at the Choice store in Harlow on 18th July 2025, around 3:15 PM. While browsing the store, I picked up a pair of black jeans which were clearly marked with a sale sticker showing a price of £3.50. However, when I went to pay at the counter, the item scanned at £7.50. The staff member brought to my attention that its scanning the full price , I was told that the lower price was an error and I would have to pay the full £7.50 instead. I pointed out that the item was clearly marked with a discounted price, and not just one pair — multiple items of the same kind were similarly priced, which suggests it wasn’t a one-off sticker mistake. I requested to speak to the manager, hoping the matter could be resolved fairly. Unfortunately, the manager was dismissive, simply stating that it was a human error and refused to honour the price shown on the label. There was no effort made to resolve the issue or to acknowledge the impact of this situation on my shopping experience. As a result, I decided not to proceed with any of my intended purchases and left the store disappointed. As a regular customer, I found the handling of this situation to be highly unsatisfactory and not reflective of the level of service expected. Regarding Consumer Rights: Under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, retailers must not mislead consumers with incorrect or deceptive pricing. While stores are not legally obliged to sell items at the marked price if it’s a genuine pricing error, they must not engage in practices that mislead consumers or are considered unfair — especially if the error appears to be widespread, as in this case. Furthermore, good customer service would involve addressing such concerns respectfully and professionally, which was not demonstrated.

Clothing out-let for labels including M&S, Next, Principles and Laura Ashley. Reasonable prices, sometimes half price. There isn't a fitting room, but you can exchange or return here

I like choice as it is next clothing but the opposite season to the shops and it is usually all discounted. There is another shop of exactly the same name which only sells high end stuff which is a bit confusing when you walk in sometimes.

Not happy about the customer service I just received at the Harlow store at 12.38 served by Theresa. I was waiting in the queue for several minutes as the customer at the till was discussing covid 19 with Theresa. I noticed a man and his 2 children then waited for several seconds at the opposite end of the queue. The customer at the till finished their transaction and left. Theresa then said to me that she thought the man at the wrong end of the queue had been waiting longer than me, I told her no it is me, she clearly doubted me and proceeded to ask the man if he had been waiting longer, as he did not know I was served next but feeling very insulted that I was not trusted and feeling like rubbish about how I was made to feel. I appreciate we are all under pressure at the moment but I won't be returning back to the shop any time soon.
