Perfect place for careless DIY fans to visit, no need to book in advance. Also great for families with adventurous children. Really accommodating opening times (24 hours a day, 365 days a year). Brilliant treatments available and all of the staff were friendly. Very good for a afternoon visit but can get busy on weekends and after the pubs close. Whether you are accident-prone, hapless or chronically unlucky they will cater for your every need. Not recommended for regular trips but for a special occasion it is unparalleled. Five Stars

My daughter who is a young adult was referred to Tameside Hospital A&E by NHS 111 due to breathing difficulties and pain in her legs. What we experienced was nothing short of a disgrace. We were dismissed by a confrontational and rude receptionist who showed no compassion whatsoever and actually sneered when we told her that we had been referred by 111. She told us that the waiting time would be around nine hours and abruptly told us to “sit down” — yet there was nowhere to sit. The waiting area was chaotic, with people lying and sitting on the floor. The environment felt unsafe and completely out of control. As my daughter continued to struggle with her breathing, nobody came to check on her or offer any assistance. It was heartbreaking and terrifying to see such a lack of care in what should be an emergency setting. I dread to think what would happen to someone in a life-threatening situation here. This department is in crisis and desperately needs intervention — it does not feel safe or fit for purpose. In the end, we felt we had no choice but to leave and travel outside the area to find another hospital where my daughter could actually receive help. It’s appalling that patients in distress are treated this way. Tameside A&E needs serious review and change — or it should be shut down until it’s safe.

Still long waiting times to be seen. But vending machine , access to free drinking water and comfortable seating make the wait more bearable. Staff doing a great job. Having to deal with some difficult people.

I wish there was an option of rating a zero star but unfortunately there isn't. It's been 4 days since I've been in a childcare unit and can you believe that they haven't sent anybody for cleaning. Why? They don't care about child health and hygiene? They haven't mopped the floor nothing at all. I'm surprised how they are neglecting child health and hygiene. At least clean the child care unit once in a day. The management should take an action or maybe they are the one to be held responsible for this kind of negligence.

My experience was the same as the other poor reviews below - waited hours to be seen (95 year old lady) : experienced poor behaviours /borderline rude from nursing staff and observed staff playing on phones / computers and talking about their exotic continental holidays -also have photographic evidence! These are clearly not isolated incidents. NB Ambulance staff were amazing !

My days if I saw the review for here would never come but I experienced the worst day, 5 hours waiting when the waiting room is half empty, every time I go and ask how long for my child, they say we are next, 3 hours I’ve been asking and they say we are next and so many patients have been going before us!!!!!!! Now we have been here for 8 hours!!!!!! Worst hospital you can ever go to guys!!! Don’t waste ur time here

Very disappointed at the level of care and professionalism of this hospital. I visited the hospital with my child as we were unable to get an appointment with the doctor (and the doctor informed us that this is not a A&E requirement but yet we would have to wait 4 weeks to see the doctor) so after two days, we visited this hospital only to be seen by a triage nurse who was incredibly offensive and condescending. She accused us of been terrible parents for not bringing the child in earlier. I stood my ground (having used to work for the NHS as a nurse) and was shouted at by the triage nurse who claimed she was more qualified than me, yes she probably was but she certainly didn’t know what she was talking about and then she forgot to add us to the list and so we ended up waiting 5 hours anyway. After asking if we could be added to the list, she forgot again and so we waited a further hour before being seen. Once seen by the doctor, he claimed that we had taken the right approach as decent parents and not to worry about what the triage nurse (with a hint). So it appears that this was some sort of game for the triage nurse with an extremely intimidating approach (so the nurse had the audacity to make claims without reason about our parenting but yet behaved very irresponsibly and didn’t seem to care one bit about my child. I asked other parents how they felt about the service and they also had a bad experience with the same triage nurse. On the other hand, I had to beg the doctor to give my child the once over (which I had done already but wanted a second opinion) only to conclude that there was no issue and that this was obvious without an examination.
