What an absolute let down , I really had high expectations. First of all walked into a cosy opened fire pub Then got escorted outside in the rain down wooden wet steps to a room with no atmosphere just a large table . The floor on one side was saturated in rain . We all thought let’s not be put off the food must be good . One guest ordered sausage & mash a lovely winter comfort food she thought how wrong !! The meal was 3 dry sausages with mash and salad on the side !!! WTH Two guests ordered Lobster It came whole !! Why not have it dressed with a melted butter . It took them most of the time to de shell it Who wants that !!! The salmon kebabs were so pale & you cooked it on a hot slate Why not have salmon chunks with vegetables that’s a kebab the steak also was grisly and tough to cut The sauces were runny & no flavour The only good part was the home made chips So very disappointed Come on guys up your game please there’s a lot of competition out there

Reviews are so important in hospitality the good and the bad, and unfortunately this one isn’t great. We didn’t have a terrible experience, but everything felt very rushed and there was zero customer service, to be honest. The chef really needs attention because the food was bland, cold, and overall tasteless and dry. You’re only given 1 hour and 45 minutes before they turn the table for the next sitting, which added to the rushed feeling. We booked for my husband’s birthday and were excited because the menu looked so good, but we all left disappointed. There were puddles of water everywhere, which made the place feel cold. It had been raining all day you can’t control the weather, but you can make sure it’s not wet indoors. The whole place just lacks atmosphere and attention to detail! I wouldn’t recommend eating here, although it might be fine for a pint after a nice walk. Not terrible, just not somewhere we’d return to.

Still as bad, still rude, still empty! Disappointment. Hoped something would have changed. Seems the locals have abandoned it. Won't call again

We were looking forward to a meal out for my brothers 60th birthday wow what a major disappointment all had to preorder which was fine once there my daughter wanted garden peas instead of mushy was told no changes then my dad had pie and peas the mushy peas were actually processed peas!! I ordered chicken tikka masala and got a starter so I paid £10 deposit for a £5 meal never got my £5 back . The chips were the worse I’ve ever had frozen Aldi ones I sent them back and was offered a different kind of chip, 10 minutes later fresh chips came out exactly the same as the awful first lot the landlady was not welcoming at all her face when we asked for 2 fresh orange juice she said oh I might only have enough for one I’ll have to fetch another carton so I said I’d have a Coke instead my husband’s chicken burger well the chicken was no thicker than a slice of bacon fair enough she asked if he wanted a burger instead that was no better cheapest of the cheap felt very unwelcome. Trust me we’ve eaten at a lot of places and this one wins the worst one ever

It was a great pub; I would recommend it. On the day we arrived, it was Thai food day, which has a very limited menu that was delicious but was small portions. I got the Thai fish cakes starter, which came with a tiny portion with salad and sweet chilli, and the fish cakes were 5 pieces of little prawn burgers. They tasted slightly salty, but when put with sauce, they were very good. This cost 5 pounds (from what I remember), and my main was red curry with jasmine rice. I decided to ask to have it spicy, as mild is the default option (Mama didn't raise no B) It was amazing, and I heavily recommend it. What I had was a spicy and just slightly sweeter curry paired with chicken and bell pepper, but from trying milder versions, I would recommend choosing mild, as I can easily tolerate spicy. The food it was not bad, but mild had a better flavour palate. With spicy, you get a hint of sweet, salty goodness, and then BAM, the spice constantly blows it out of your mouth. So for better taste, go mild. This cost 15 pounds, I believe. The service was amazing. very kind people, and it felt that they catered to us a lot, which was very kind of them. Overall, a great experience. Would recommend

Their steak and ale pie is to die for. I live in Texas USA, family lives down the road from here, and I literally dream about that pie all the time. It kills me that I am over 5,000 miles away from this place. The owners are super nice, quiz nights are fun and they even sent me off with a country song before my long voyage home! Can't wait to be back across the pond again to have yet another pie. The ones I attempt to make here are incomparable :)
