⚠️ Serious patient safety concerns – I strongly advise de-registering I am writing this review as both a medical doctor and a parent who has been genuinely fearful for their child’s safety while registered at Junction Surgery and Alkrington Surgery. Since registering in August 2025, I have experienced repeated safety and professionalism concerns. My child was once prescribed antibiotics without enough doses to complete the course and I was told that “missing a few doses won’t matter.” This is unsafe advice and only corrected after I insisted. My daughter had a persistent cough for several months and attended multiple times, yet no appropriate referral or timely investigations were arranged. When she later developed fever and blood-stained sputum, an out-of-hours GP was clearly concerned and requested urgent investigations. Despite this, our concerns were dismissed the following day, my child was not properly examined, and I was given incorrect medical information. False reassurance when a child is coughing up blood is unacceptable. When I later requested an urgent private ENT referral due to ongoing bleeding, I was asked to pay a fee during a highly distressing situation, despite previously being told such referrals were not chargeable. The supervising GP did not attend to assess my child in person. Overall, I felt unheard, disrespected, and unsafe. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise patients—especially parents of young children—to seriously consider de-registering and seeking care elsewhere. I am always seen in a timely manner and expect a wait , it can’t always run like a production line . Some patients might need more time than others I have found the receptionists helpful and do their best along with the back office staff who work hard behind the scenes . Thankyou

The ATTITUDE on the reception staff is absolutely appalling!!!! I don't know how many times people have to complain until something is done about it. If people are ringing the GP Practice then they need to understand that either them or another family member and not well and the last thing they need is to be spoken to in such a way.

Saw female GP. Waste of time. Attitute to Patient well this is much to be desired. She needs to attend some sort of training on how to handle patients and be POLITE. Also not to send patients away without sorting out their health problem.

Receptionists (one in particular) are often rude and racist. Alienating my elderly father. They will try to palm you off if it's not an appointment too.

The receptionists are often rude to you. The doctor forgot my sick note for pneumonia and I was told that, ‘I have enough to do today’. But I need that to get paid. Another receptionist promised me a call ‘in 10 minutes’ about a blood test. I never received any call and and had to go in physically to sort. I’m back to going in again with pneumonia today to get my sick note despite being poorly as once again no call back. Also if you call for an appointment the line is always busy and you can’t get through, (I tried over 20 times yesterday until the queueing system kicked in apparently accidentally at 8:15am) so if they continue this ridiculous system you have to physically go in to have any chance of an appointment , but by then all appointments are gone. Apparently they are all gone by 8:30am I was told. This doctors is the worst surgery I have ever known in my lifetime with uncaring unhelpful staff on the whole and doctors that rush through your appointment. You never see the same one twice. I’ve been poorly for two months with my chest and gave up calling in the end and only got in when I called 111 with pneumonia that eventually developed.

Truly terrible place. Reception and nurses have a digusting attitude and if you try and phone them you can never get through. Waited 55mins last time I tried and it ended up with nothing but the sound of the dial tone.

Phone lines never get answered, spending 50 mins from 10th In The que to first ,to get cut off for technical problems. This problem is actually acknowledged in the initial message on the opening message from the practice. Been like this for months .Went in person to the Alkrington practice , told staff of this issue, not bothered in the slightest.Stinking attitude in general. Rang the practice while I was in the surgery, 10th in line again, only to easily hear the staff in the back chatting about what they’re doing over the bank holiday and where they’re going . At least shut the door and don’t make it so obvious .

Absolute WORST centre there is. If I could give zero stars I would. Good luck getting through the phone lines! Been #1 and #2 in the queue 19x and call is being cut off every single time!! They say they are aware of a problem with the phone lines but been saying that for 6 months now. Shocking!!! Been trying to get an appointment for my 3year old for weeks now. Looking for new gp asap!
