So disappointed at how this practice has gone downhill, there is no professionalism from reception who barely look up from the PC or acknowledge you. The previous ladies always welcomed you with a smile and were smartly dressed and presented. I waited well over an hour to see the doctor I questioned this and a lady came downstairs, not who I was booked in with nor familiar with. She took me in the old treatment room with no chairs in just a bed. I had to stand for my consultation. There was no PC in the room. I had to ask whether she was a Dr as was not introduced. I have very complex medical needs so it was essential that my notes were accessible. There was an adjoining door where a man walked through the room where I was having my consultation twice, he looked as though he was working on computers in the back room. I was embarrassed and uncomfortable. The room was also dirty

Doctors are reluctant to prescribe basic medication as they want to save money for the practice budget. Also this practice has many admin staff that duplicate tasks and make too many mistakes with patients records.

I only add reviews when I strongly feel the need to share - i cant lie and say that i have always had a great service at monarch but i have been really impressed recently with the service i have been receiving and thats down to 2 of the team - Dr Nisha and Nurse Ruth!! What an absolute pleasure it has been to have had Dr Nisha for my recent consultations, she is the first Dr in years to actually listen and make me feel heard!! I will not be seeing anyone else! And likewise for Ruth she listens, is friendly, and always a pleasure to see, she always makes my day! Please do not let either of these amazing women leave!! The reception staff are always lovely too!

I had a 6cm ovarian cyst burst, had internal bleeding, and needed a blood transfusion. I needed urgent surgery. I ended up in A&E - called the GP a day or so later relaying my very worrying symptoms and A&Es findings (projectile vomiting, diarrhoea, unable to keep food/water/tablets down, excruciating pelvic and full body pain, falling in and out of consciousness, blood in urine). A GP told me it was ‘nerves’, and gave no explanation as to why my symptoms suddenly increased tenfold. I was refused anti-sickness tablets many times while dealing with the unbearable nausea and vomiting, because they can become addictive apparently. The pain was unbelievable, I had to take the maximum dosage of cocodamol a day, and that barely touched the sides. Rather than showing concern for the severity of my pain, nausea, and other symptoms, conversations around pain medications became interrogations regarding addiction. I had a large cyst that needed to be removed urgently. They should have heard my symptoms and flagged them as concerning. They should have contacted my NHS surgeon with those concerns, urging them to bring the surgery date forward. They should have spotted the signs and symptoms of a ruptured cyst. Instead of trying to understand what could be happening to cause these very severe symptoms, they did nothing but minimise and ignore my concerns, while refusing me medications that were saving me from ending my life due to the constant, excruciating pain. What exactly are these doctors trained in? How could you be a trained doctor and miss the signs of an ovarian cyst rupture, especially considering my suspected endometriosis? I felt that something was seriously wrong despite this, so I pursued private surgery. If I did not have the means to do that, as many do not, I may not be here now. I could have gone into sepsis, I could have developed blood clots, and god knows what else. Not only that, I also had samples necessary for a referral to gastroenterology go missing three times in a row, which is just bloody odd. I am still in unbelievable amounts of pain, and have ongoing symptoms. I spoke to the practice manager yesterday. I wanted to try to explain how deeply traumatic all of this has been for me. According to her, I should have contacted my surgeon and asked for the surgery to be moved forward, not the GP. Like ???? I didn’t know I had a cyst! That is why I went to my GP for help, so that they could flag this as a potential emergency, justify my concerns, and potentially get my surgery moved forward or flagged as urgent. I am not a doctor, I went to my GP because I had no idea what was going on in my body, I was unbelievably ill, and scared. Is that not what you are supposed to do? However, my concerns were minimised, and I was made to feel dramatic. So, I just kept suffering until I could finally be booked in for a private laparoscopy. I explained that my dad (also at the same practice) has stage four cancer, and recently my brother passed away too, so my mental and physical health are very poor. She wouldn’t let me finish and responded very unprofessionally. I can’t remember her exact words, but it was something along the lines of ‘don’t start that’ or ‘don’t go there’ because her father passed away and she had been through a lot too. Honestly, I was gobsmacked, still am. I don’t understand why she thought it appropriate to respond like that. It is her job, that she is paid for, to be the practice manager. I hoped she would listen to my concerns and understand how negligent the practice had been, but I suppose that would be an admission of guilt. I am 24. I haven’t even managed to graduate university yet because of how much I have had to go through. All I want is to be healthy! I have been living a nightmare, and this practice has only made it harder. The doctors that work there traumatised me. If you do choose to join this practice, ask for doctor Nisha. She is truly lovely. The rest are incompetent.

I have never seen a GP so useless in my life. They tell you to call before 10am and then the number never works and when you call at 09:55 they tell you it’s almost 10am and they can’t take appointments. If you have an emergency, they ask you to call 999. When you walk in, they send you back telling you to book appointments on phone or on askmyGp that doesn’t work as well. Even when you are lucky to book the appointment, the doctors never call you back. They keep asking for new patients when they never take care of the patients they have. I have reported them to CQC!

Not long registered at this practice but we are amazed by the efficient efforts of all the staff and feel very reassured. More than can be said of our last Doctors practice. Special thanks to the professional approach of the practice Nurse Ruth who goes above and beyond. Thank you Ruth for taking time and sharing your knowledge.

You won’t get an appointment despite how unwell you are or how severe your ailment is! The whole process of making an appointment is an arduous ordeal. The receptionist will tell you that there’s no appointments meaning that the doctor can only provide a telephone conversation... don’t hold your breath because you will never get a call back. Incredibly poorly run practice, I’ll be transferring to another practice, which I would recommend all others to do, if you value your health.
