Some good and bad experiences here. Was seen last year by a female doctor here who diagnosed me with anxiety and depression. I was referred for CBT treatment. The therapist, after many hours of talking therapy suggested that I may be suffering from a neurodiversity condition. I mentioned this to my GP on my next check in and was practically laughed at. The response was basically that we all experience these symptoms. I was embarrassed and didn’t raise the issue again. I was placed on a high dose of anti depressants and sent on my way. I’ve now stopped the medication abruptly as I am still experiencing the same problems - withdrawal is hell but I have no desire to return to this GP to revisit what was discussed with my therapist and have nowhere else to turn. Looking to transfer to a new GP to get the help I need

I have great concerns about this medical centre, and I have no issue with doctors, but their reception team was very rude. You will never expect them to give you a smile. We have made an urgent appointment 9 am today for our granddaughter, who has had a bad cough with a running nose. We arrived at the medical centre 9:10am and at that time only one receptionist attended, but was continuously using the phone. We were waiting patiently for over five minutes until she finished her phone call. Then she told us that the appointment was invalid because we missed the appointment by over 15minutes. We tried to argue with her that we arrived at 9:10 am and the appointment should be valid. Suddenly, five receptionists appeared at the reception desk, showing a very aggressive manner, and one of the receptionists even threatened to call the police. I have to say, this reception team is arrogant, rude, and has a total lack of empathy for the patients. The management team should look into restructuring the reception team! I have checked all 53 Google reviews of this medical centre, and 26 out of 53 were one star, with an average score of 2.6. So far, this 2.6 score is the lowest within Greater Manchester that I have ever seen. 16 of 53 were complaints about their receptionists, which should tell you something!

In a time when people find it easier to criticise our GP service and the health system, I think it’s really important to recognise truly excellent care. This is the best GP I’ve been at, they are patient, calm, accommodating and easy to deal with, which is even more remarkable when you consider how much vitriol and abuse they face on a daily basis. Well done to all the team at Altrincham medical practice, I feel very lucky to have this as my local practice.

I had an exceptional experience at Altrincham Medical Practice! From the moment I walked in, the staff were warm, welcoming, and highly professional. The doctors and nurses were incredibly thorough, taking the time to listen to my concerns and explain everything clearly. The level of care and attention to detail truly set this practice apart. The facilities were clean and well-organized, which added to the overall positive atmosphere. I left feeling reassured and confident in the care I received. If you're looking for a medical practice that combines professionalism with a personal touch, Altrincham Medical Practice is the one to choose. Highly recommended!"

My whole family have been with this practice for over 10 years. I am very happy with the service they provided. The doctors are very professional and patient with my 2 special needs kids. The nurses are friendly and willing to listen and help. The booking system did change after pandemic, but if you phone on time you will normally get an appointment. There will be a waiting time for the phone call to be answered but you will be told your waiting position. Thanks for everyone who works extremely hard. All of your help and effort are much appreciated.

It is almost impossible to get an appointment at this practice. The online form doesn’t work for me apparently and there are no ‘none urgent’ appointments available. You have to stay on hold for over 40 minutes at 08:00am to get through and more than likely all appointments have gone. If you get an appointment it means you have to wait by your phone for an entire day for fear of missing the call back. I worry for vulnerable patients, those with mental health conditions who simply couldn’t face this process. And I have no idea how people are supposed to ‘catch cancer early’ if you have to face the urgent appointment scrum to get potential early cancer symptoms checked out. My daughter had a terrible cough that went on for weeks, she needed antibiotics and I knew that but I had to leave it even longer until she had ‘crackles on her lungs’ because I knew I wouldn’t even be seen without it. She suffered for weeks longer than needed, she was 4 years old at the time. I was diagnosed with ADHD but had to go private as a GP at this practice asked me ‘what’s the point’ in diagnosis at my age, I was 37. Horrible. Find a different GP practice as we will be.

It pains me to give poor review to my fellow medical profession. I am a NHS dentist , We went back to normal operation from Aug 2020 doing all treatment face to face . Most dental emergency / pain appointments are seen on the day or next day . It has been impossible to get even a phone consultation without waiting ridiculous amount of time . I had to accept a time that I was working. One call came when I was doing consultation and that was it, I didn’t get another call. This is NOT how I or my colleagues treat our patients! You need to ask yourself why are you in a health profession if you don’t care ? I also need to bring up a traumatic experience several years back when one of clinicians insulted me ,spoke to me in a demeaning manner over the phone, accusing me falsifying my symptoms and not turning up for appointments . Firstly I missed none of your appointments . Secondly being in the medical field I do have the basic pharmaceutical knowledge . Mefenamic acid and Transamic acid are NOT the same and they can be prescribed together. I was struggling with bleeding 28 days out of a month, being a single mother and working in a high stress environment looking after thousands of patients of my own. Convinced of herself that I was making it all up, I was refused the medicine I needed . Your appalling attitude and ignorance astounded me. Please Ms GP I hope you are up to date with your CPD as this incidence seriously called into question your medical competence. If showing the minimum human decency proves such a task, please get out of medicine !

Lack of compassion and empathy! They have no time to pay attention to details. I am going through a tough phase with a new diagnosis of epilepsy for my daughter. Having lived in various parts of the UK; I have never encountered a bad experience with any of the GP surgery. Unsupportive and lack compassion and empathy towards patients wholistic care. We joined this surgery after moving home. We didn’t want to leave our previous GP i, but they contacted to say that we have moved away, thus need to change the practice. Feeling awful.. and have been calling 111, walking into ED instead.

I have been registered at this practice for 4 years. The medical staff have always been polite. One of the receptionists seems to act as a gatekeeper and as a result can be insensitive at times. The other receptionist however, Judith, goes out of her way to be helpful. It because of this amazing lady that I am amending my review from 3 to 4 stars.
