this will be the 3rd time with this service for our adopted son and been dismissed with school and emotional issues paid for a private assessment which has confirmed things but is not recognised and are now back at the end of a waiting list he is 15 and his first appointment was at 4..
Im rating this 2 stars because they where very bad with my mental health and I had 3 doctors. I don't remember the first two names but I do remember that the first left suddenly and the second gave up on me as she gave useless advice and I snapped one time by vandalising her office and screamed in her face that I hope she dies feeling as bad as her patients are. I know that sounds bad but this was a build up situation. Then Dr Rachel Lightstone came and she didn't give up on me, diagnosed and treated me for my ADHD and helped me get therapy for my past sexual assault trauma experience. It took me a while but she earned my trust through patience, not giving up on me and ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING. I'm with adult services now, but despite the stupidly long waiting list and 90% of the doctors are like they got their degree from Google, I'm somehow alive and 2 years clean from self harm on writing this review. Credit to Dr Rachel Lightstone, she deserves a pay rise for actually caring and taking things seriously.
Utter disgrace! My son has been failed multiple times by Stockport Camhs. After being on waiting list for over 3 years for Asd referral we were finally given an appointment for Ados assessment in March 2024. Camhs had full history reports from school starting from Reception along with Ed Psych report done in Yr1, Arfid diagnosis done by Camhs themselves and full history from myself. The ados showed he met the required threshold, but we were told possible Adhd, another wait, July QB test not Adhd. We were then told a cognitive assessment was needed, waited again and finally had this done in February 2025. The results were patchy and didn't provide any information other than he had a low IQ but no diagnosis of learning difficulties. The clinician who carried out the assessment was newly qualified, during our meeting to discuss the results she was unable to give any recommendations for school and gave me limited answers and that she had just been asked to conduct the test. We got an appointment for April for what I believe was to discuss the findings from all the assessments however it was cancelled! I telephoned to ask if we could meet with anyone else, we have waited 5 years to get this far. Told no, staff shortages, people off sick and only the allocated Case Worker can meet with us. We finally gave up with Camhs and have chosen a private referral. I emailed our case worker Michelle Barton to advise we would not be pursuing Camhs any further in April, to date she has yet to respond to my email. We took all reports, assessments and case file from Camhs and school to a Private practice and my son has finally had a diagnosis for Asd age 10! It was all there is black and white along with observations and Camhs Ados assessment results. These were experts who have worked for Camhs themselves and were in disbelief how this diagnosis was withheld when all the evidence Camhs had yet we were left with no choice other than to seek Private route! Camhs catch phrase is 'a diagnosis won't change anything'
Really lovely staff and doctor really understanding. Dont know why it has such low scores? Only had 1 issue with the woman who originally took my first call for the hour to explain our situation/life, she was arrogant. But once in with doctor was a huge relief and we have had a very positive experience. Thank you to reception all staff who have worked extra to help us (especially Ms. Clarke) when needed and also the doctor not sure if i can mention her or not? I’ll come back once i know i can mention her name.
bad food there and always give me paper bags so my groceries fall out on the way home
Tracy, Lisa and Katie have helped us so much in helping our teenager deal with overwhelming emotions. They've been really kind and supportive and given us some really useful information and techniques. I can't thank them enough, they're fantastic
