We are a car dealer in the south, we had a customer in Leeds that had a warning light come on his car and he took the car to these guys. We deal with garages all over the country and oh so often, they try to overcharge you and capitalise on the fact that they have you over a barrel and it becomes a battle where we inevitably look like the penny pinching bad guys, when all we actually want is a fair price. That was certainly not the case with these guys! They were honest, did not try to make a profit on the parts, didn't over charge for diagnostics and were incredibly fair on thier labour rate. We sell a lot og VAG cars and if we have future cutomers in thier area, they will be our go to garage. Thanks guys! Southern car sales.

Been using Smashing for about 20 years & they’ve always got it right. Just had service done on my Audi, once again they’ve done a fantastic & professional job they took good care of it, they were efficient from booking to completion. These guys are very knowledgeable with VAG group vehicles, they’re probably the best in Yorkshire. To top it off they update your service history on the official Audi digital servers for peace of mind. This is testament to Eric’s commitment to higher standards of service. Thank you Smashing

Absolutely atrocious customer service. I brought my car in early morning for diagnostics and any necessary repairs. I was assured I’d be contacted in the early afternoon with the results. No call ever came. At 2:30pm, I phoned the garage myself and was told the car had faults, but they couldn’t tell me exactly what was wrong. After I suggested what it might be, they agreed it could be that but said they needed to carry out “further testing.” I asked for an update as soon as possible so I would know if my car was staying overnight, and I was reassured they’d call me back. Once again, no contact. The next morning, I finally got a call only to be told that a part had already been replaced on my car without my knowledge or consent and that it hadn’t fixed the problem as further parts needed replacing. When I questioned why work had been carried out without approval, I was told I had been contacted and agreed to it. No attempt had been made to contact me prior to this. When I collected my car, they flatly refused to admit their mistake, insisting I had approved the work. To make matters worse, my steering wheel now has multiple scratches that were not there before I dropped it off. This garage is untrustworthy, unprofessional, and dismissive of customers’ rights. Avoid at all costs unless you want to be lied to and have your car damaged in the process.

Was very happy with the work I had done slightly higher prices than other garages but make up for it in the honesty and quality of work provided. EDIT: (Gone from 5 stars to 1 would be minus if i could) If you’re looking for a masterclass in losing customers through deceit and want to witness a business that’s a complete laughing stock, this is your go-to. I used to trust these guys with all my Golf’s needs—until they turned what should’ve been a simple bulb replacement into a farce of daylight robbery. (I’ll give them credit where it's due—they know their stuff mechanically—but that’s about the only positive thing I can say.) I had left over £200 in a tub in the car, meant for a gift envelope, and completely forgot about it. When I went to retrieve it, I was utterly shocked to find it missing. The only people who had been in the car were me and their staff. I’m always cautious about these things, so unless someone was actively searching, no one could’ve known it was there. I called Smashing on a Friday night to explain what had happened. They promised to get back to me by Monday, but of course, I heard nothing. So, I called again. The owner assured me it was only his son and a long-time technician who had been in the car and that neither of them took the money. I replied, “Well, how did it go missing then? The only people in the car were me and your staff.” Then came the punchline. With a straight face, the owner said, “Maybe it was the gypsies nosing around.” You can’t make this stuff up! I asked, “So you don’t lock the car when it’s unattended?” His response was priceless: “No, we don’t want to risk locking the keys inside. It’s cheaper to leave the car unlocked than to smash a window.” At that point, I realized this whole situation was a joke, and there was no chance of recovering my money. I decided to cut my losses and find a reputable garage. Now, I only use them to buy parts and nothing more. If "Smashing" is reading this, here’s some advice: stop being dishonest. In the future, just apologize and refund the customer. It’s really that simple. This whole ordeal has not only damaged your credibility but also cost you some major jobs my car required—like a water pump replacement. Your unwillingness to own up to a mistake and make things right has lost you more than just a customer, it’s lost you a lot of business. For context, this all happened 6-8 months ago. I waited to leave this review because I wanted to find someone just as good mechanically—if not better—and thankfully, I’ve found someone far more reliable and professional. Lastly, if anyone is reading this and doubts the validity of my review, rest assured it's 100% genuine and i only leave genuine reviews. I can prove I was there with invoices and other documentation for the dates I mentioned.

Bought suspension from these guys it was worse than what I got taken out of my car. Not very professional. Out there to make money. Check all your parts properly before buying from here. Worst experience for used parts. Never again

Fantastic service when getting my turbo issues diagnosed, repaired and fitted. They also made time to get my M.O.T done and explained the price breakdown before payment. My S.Leon is running like a dream again and I will definitely be using this garage again in the future if anything else arises.

I couldn’t recommend smashing VW more highly. I couldn’t have asked for a better service. Very accommodating, competent & professional. They have recently fixed both my & my wife’s car. Both had electrical glitches 1 with an airbag fault and the second needing work to code the infotainment system (stereo, sat-nav & handsfree systems) after it was stolen. From the initial communications and going above and beyond to help, I was put at ease of their expertise. Thanks again Wes and team.
