Took my 2 children here 8 and 12 they've always been amazing going to the dentist and was never scared. Let's just say they're absolutely petrified now both cried during and after the appointment. The dentist that saw my 2 have no idea how to communicate with children and was quite firm with my 8yr old. Then saying about fillings and don't worry it's just a needle and drill! Who says that to kids. Then saying my 12yr old has perfect teeth perfect brushing to Then say she needs deep clean? While trying to do the xray on my 8yr old he kept telling her it hurt because was on his wobbly tooth but she kept pushing it in not patient at all. They was only supposed to having a "check up" first time here and will definitely be the last! So please if you have kids don't use this dentist.

Where do I start! When it was Shelswell dental it was fantastic, Chris was very thorough with minimal work being required on my teeth. When it changed to Bessacarr dental and Chris retired, it quickly went downhill! Reception is terrible and I suddenly started needing fillings and my gum health was borderline gum disease. Not ideal being early-mid 30s. I had a filling but it was left too high and cracked within a couple of weeks, it was refilled and lasted a couple of years before it needed refilling by them again at cost. I was then told I needed 2 more fillings but opted not to have them, instead I booked a private appointment in Leeds who said my gum health was excellent and did not need any fillings!? I asked Bessacarr dental for my dental history records to be sent to me which took 6 months! That was 4 years ago and today had my first appointment at a different NHS dentist who explained my overall gum health and teeth are excellent with no fillings being required other than the one that has cracked twice in the past (it needs re-filling or crowning) It’s disgusting bessacarr dental seem to be lieing to carry out work at cost that does not need to be done. My advice would be to not go here and look elsewhere for NHS dentists or go private which has cost me less in the long run! Also to note that dental hygienists are being used to carry out fillings and other work. These are not qualified dentists (reception cannot seem to grasp that concept!) In my opinion this practice needs investigating for performing work that is not required and using hygienists to carry out dental work (other than cleaning/checks) One of the hygienists also poked at my gums around the teeth to check periodontal pockets and made them bleed which became inflamed for couple of weeks. I was told pocket depth is 4 or 5 on the scale which is why they bled - gum disease. This is very odd as two different dentists (private and nhs) say my gum health is excellent.

The owner of this practice obviously does not read these reviews or listen to patient feedback. The receptionist is the rudest woman I have ever encountered. Not acceptable when fronting up the customer service of a business that requires someone with above average compassion and empathy. I feel sorry for the patients that have no other choice than to endure this womans short temper and impoliteness.

Every time we attend an appointment with the kids we are never taken in on time. Last time we waited over an hour, this time was 30mins. There’s never an apology only that β€œwe had an emergency” or β€œwell appointments are fluid, you’ll be see when the room is free”. If it wasn’t so hard to get into another dentist I’d leave. It has really gone downhill since it changed from the Shellswell practice.

Had an appointment with Dr Lord this morning for a root canal treatment. He took great care to explain exactly what would happen and the procedure was pain free and went to plan. Dr Lord was very gentle and kept stopping to make sure I was comfortable with the treatment. Being a very anxious patient, both Dr Lord and his Assistant were very caring and have improved my confidence for future appointments. A big thank you from me!

As a nervous patient I have found that Dr Lord always makes me feel very calm and explains what is happening. Absolutely great with the kids. Always smiling and great at his job. Very friendly staff all round :) I have also been to see Dr Sharma and she was lovely too.

I get so nervous when going to the dentist. I have so much anxiety built up around it due to bad past experiences. Dr Lord put all my anxiety at ease. So friendly, so cheerful and patient. Cannot recommend him enough!

Mr Lord was a breath of fresh air - a dentist who actually enjoys his job ! He was so patient and reassuring towards my disabled mother on her first visit. Thanks also to Jane the receptionist. A anxious visit turned into a successful one. Thank you all.
