Superb barbershop experience. Mr. Young knows his stuff and advises you well; he has an artist's eye for a stunning hairstyle, and this is definitely the best haircut experience I've had in York. 10/10, will be returning!
I've been coming to Martin now for a good few years, and in that time we've gone through a good few style changes, long and short! The space is so comforting, I mean, being greeted by the dogs Maggie and previously Tilly who often are belly up on the sofa waiting for a little fuss are adorable and make you feel welcome. Martin is easily the best barber I've ever used in York and will remain my barber until he hangs up his clippers, which he's not allowed to do whilst I have hair! Always fantastic conversation, a homely space to wait and have your hair cut, recommend to anyone who wants to feel like they're actually more than just another cut. Once you go, you'll not go anywhere else.
Martin is a fantastic barber. Provides a professional and pampering experience, and you can see his expertise and passion. Always feel refreshed and well groomed afterwards, and he tailors it to what you need individually. Couldn't recommend him more highly
Had my beard trimmed by Mr Young, and without a doubt was the best visit to the barbers I've ever had. Will definitely be my barber of choice from now on, Martin is careful and precise and provides great conversation while he works. A real treat everytime I visit, the atmosphere is fantastic and I can't recommend him enough.
Excellent haircut from Martin who is clearly a highly skilled hairdresser. His attention to detail and understanding of what I required was spot on for my first haircut with him. That allied to his friendly manner and classic barbershop interior makes this an excellent haircut experience. I am booking my next appointments now.
As a baldy I don't often frequent the barbershop so it was a rare treat to get my beard trimmed by Martin. His shop is a work of art and the man himself is fantastically warm and personable. In my 40 years on planet earth, I’ve had my fair share of experience with barbers. In that time, not one single person has impressed me as much as Martin does. He is absolutely a true gentleman and a skilled professional. Unlike some barbers, there is real artistry in his methods. There is no arrogance or pretentiousness. The chat flows freely and within minutes of meeting him, you just know you are in a safe pair of hands. His attention to detail is amazing and his effortless customer service is second to none. It might sound like sensational hyperbole, but it’s true. What makes it even more impressive is that I’m not even sure that Martin is aware of just how good he really is! This was my third haircut and beard trim with this legend. The first two visits resulted in fantastic cuts. The third just edged them, a feat I never thought would be possible. And I’m sure the fourth will equally leave me in delight. Martin really is top drawer and you’d be hard pressed to find a more skilled barber within the North of England. Book him now.
