I've been going to this hairdressers for the past 16 years and I have always had a great experience. Sam and Steve are both amazing at their work and they have always been consistent and considerate. The environment is warm and welcoming, with great conversations and proffesionalism from all the staff. 10/10 would recommend SJ Grooming.
SJ Grooming has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, set within the classic decor of the building and salon. Steve and Sam are great hosts and experts in their craft. The best place for your hair and beard for miles around, a proper traditional grooming experience.
I discovered SJ Grooming after trying many hairdressers in my area and have been delighted with my hair finish and the different styles over the years. I have moved away some 8 miles or so but wouldn’t think of looking for somewhere different. Couldn’t ask for a kinder more patient barber. I’ve been going to Steve for many years and I consider him a good friend and always happy with everything done. My son now also goes and has his hair styled by Sam. He is very happy with Sam and he is relaxed and chats away which is lovely to hear. I couldn’t recommend SJ grooming enough.
Been going to Stephen John’s for 30 plus years and have been taking my son since he was born. Steve and Sam both provide an excellent, personable service. Would highly recommend to anyone that wants a good quality hair cut in a great environment. Always helps when everytime you enter, you are asked if you want a beer.
We accidentally stumbled across Stephen in 2020 during Covid, when looking for an out of town hairdresser where we could easily park. There were three of us then and Stephen was ever so helpful allowing us to park in his drive, next to the entrance. There are now just the two of us going for our haircut and the service is faultless. Stephen picks up the conversation from our previous visits and is such a nice people-friendly person. My son gets a pampered beard trim for a teenager and Stephen knows the right sort of haircut that suits his curly hair. It is a very personalised experience in a lovely period property, and the decor never ceases to amaze. Sam is brilliant too and the two of them are really invested in the business of providing a fantastic service. We've never been at the same barbers this long and certainly won't be going anywhere else.

I have used SJ Grooming for the last 20 years, the Team at SJ Grooming are second to non, the quality of the haircuts are top notch, both steve and sam are always on the ball with latest hair styles year on year, they offer a warm a friendly welcome each and every time you go, am always offered a coffee or a Beer depending on the time of the appointment that is, parking can not be any easier you can can park on the street straight outside, Booking in for a beard trim or haircut is easy just drop a message via FB messenger, very responsive on the replays, will do there best each and every time to get you the slot you need, but vest if all SJ Grooming offer a few nights a week later night appointments around 8-9pm depending in the day/night of the week , as someone who works 6 days a week this makes a massive difference to me as ti when i can get a hair and beard trim, i have to hand it to Steve though as his prices iver the years have remaind pretty solid too, never thought am paying enough for the service these guys offer, over all my experience from having a hair cut to a beard trim is a clear 10/10.
I found SJ grooming once my hair on top deserted me so I grew a beard. I needed someone to tend my new growth! I was seeing Stephen all up in the running to my wedding in Sept 21. Then one time I had a trim with Sam and I’ve been with him ever since! Both are professional and warming and it’s always a great experience!
I wasnt going to write a review but its being nearly 2 weeks since my hair cut and my hair is still looking terrible. Iv never wore a hat as much as I am doing now. I really regret having my hair cut at SJ Grooming. The customer service was great but the hair cut was really bad.
