   I have been coming here a couple of time (as treat due to price) a year for the last 3 years regularly. Every time i have been i have felt welcome, been treated respectfully and actually remembered which is a nice touch (even remembered my one off visit 7 years ago prior to my wedding). The service has always been great, my usual is full head shave with cut throat and hot towel shave. On a rare occasion i have had to wait, never more than 20 mins and always been explained, they have even waited for me once when running late due to traffic. I love coming and always leave happy. The service recieved for the price is excellent. Having used jimmy, rob and james it is amazing to see consistency throughout each visit. On my last visit they asked if they could take some pictures as part of their portfolio which i have since seen advertised. I look forward to my next visit!

   This place really is a cut above everything else (terrible pun I know) I’ve been using this establishment for a few years now, I always leave with exactly what I asked for or wanted… regardless of if Jimmy, Rob or James is my barber a visit there is always perfect and is an experience not just a haircut…. Wouldn’t go anywhere else now for sure

   Went in for a trim the barber was extremely rough when doing my fade. Caused me to get razor burn all round my neck. And the state of the brush that he was using to clean my neck and the shaver. It had been used that much the bristles where about 1 mm long. I think that is what caused a infection with the razor burn on my neck. The hair cut wasn't even nice. Due to him fading it in unevenly. All pain no gain!

   Take my 14 Yr old twin boys. We live in Bentley but the boys have had disastrous hair cuts locally. So looked for somewhere that does a proper fade. They love the guys that work there and are always happy with their cut. They also love the decor.

   Have recently been using James the junior barber recently and the service has been fantastic, barbering and styling is truly on point. Throughout the pandemic the team have worked hard to keep all their customers safe. Visiting this barbers is truly an excellent experience. I have and will continue to recommend James and The Gentleman's Retreat to people.

   I’ve been coming to this barbers for a couple of years now after being recommended by a friend and I only have positive things to say about the place, the staff, the chat and the general atmosphere! All the lads that work here are very friendly and know how to make you feel comfortable. They’re all top notch hairdressers too! This is the first barbers that I’ve ever used where I truly don’t care who’s cutting my hair because I know they all do a great job, whereas other barbers that I’ve been to in the past have that one or two good people. They’ll always offer you a brew as well! Other comments about staff not talking to them must have something to do with the customer because every time I’ve been here, I’ve had great conversations and a tonne of laughs! Great place that offers great service at an affordable price, and drinks on a nighttime too. 1000% recommend, and I have done many times!

   I have been going here for my hair cutting for about 18 months at first I thought it great, a different sort of barber's, leather settees, quirky furniture etc. The price I thought a bit steep at £18 but i was willing to pay that for better than usual surroundings and a better cut and a nice cup of coffee! The coffee stopped after the second visit and so did the service. The owner stopped talking even when sat In the waiting area not even hello, the hair cutters were ok but not over friendly, no "chit chat" as is the usual. I found cleanliness an issue, hair all over, mirrors uncleaned, even in the morning when you would expect it to be clean. After my last visit I was again disappointed so I won't be returning
