Driftwood Café is one of those spots that quietly wins you over with its simplicity and charm. It has a relaxed, seaside feel that makes it perfect for a slow morning or a peaceful lunch, with big windows and a gentle buzz of conversation that never feels rushed. The food is honest and well‑made — proper breakfasts, generously filled sandwiches, and cakes that taste like they were baked by someone who genuinely enjoys doing it. The coffee is consistently good, and the service has that friendly, unpretentious warmth that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. Nothing here is over‑the‑top, and that’s exactly why it works. Driftwood Café is a lovely little anchor point in New Brighton, and it earns its five stars with ease.

The cafe was busy when we arrived, one free table. It is a very popular cafe with people booking in advance. We chose a small breakfast and Welsh Rarebit ( which the chef kindly agreed to make as it was before 12pm when the lunch menu started). Americano coffees arrived with a complimentary homemade biscuit, which was delicious. The Welsh Rarebit was very tasty and the breakfast was good quality ingredients. Excellent service from the waiting staff, who were friendly and attentive. A yappy dog spoilt the atmosphere of people chatting, relaxing and enjoying their food.

Lovely visit there today whilst exploring new Brighton. Lovely cafe, friendly staff and a fab sausage, egg and chips

This is how it’s done! The cafe has been there ten years which is plenty of time to perfect things - and boy have they! From the warm greeting when you arrive (they seem to know all of their regulars by name) to the great food - it’s all spot on. Service is quick but still personal. The food is, of course, the main event. It’s a decent menu but what’s on there is just superb quality - for example, the cheese is clearly very mature (not cheap) and plenty of it; no corners are cut. Dog friendly.

Called here yesterday and we were so impressed. When we looked inside the tables were either occupied or reserved but we were offered a table in the courtyard at the back. Was a very hot day but we were under big parasols so it was lovely. Our order was taken promptly even though they were very busy and the food was delicious. We had the small fish and chips which was just a nice size for us. The staff were all absolutely lovely and we will definitely be back. Read on another review that you can sit outside when it's cold and they bring blankets, definitely doing that!

Popped in as we wanted to try here. Got a table right next to the counter which was really good. Plenty of room to move around even though it was full. Ordered the Driftwood Club Sandwich and a portion of homemade chips. Sandwich was delicious as where their chips. Had an iced latte then an ordinary coffee, and the wife had a milkshake then a tea as well. Service was spot on and very friendly, and always happy to help you. Must say didn't eat another thing that day as the club was more than sufficient. Go there if you want a great meal at a great price.

Well what a cafe!! The inside is beautiful- picture of seaside happiness!! The local artwork was beautiful and lovely collection of pottery too! The staff were so helpful and let us have a table even though we hadn't booked (I SUGGEST BOOKING!). The breakfast was on the price side but completely worth it!! Big helping too! The best bit was the little biscuits you get with a hot meal (I would pay for the recipe!!) Overall I suggest a booked trip here for a lovely atmosphere and food

Absolutely love coming here for both breakfast and lunch, the quality of the food is excellent and locally sourced if I'm correct. Really nice atmosphere and staff. Picture below of the chicken wrap, would also recommend the ham egg and chips portion sizes are fabulous and chips also home made!! Would recommend getting a large coffee if youre visiting as the regular one is quite small. Other than this can not fault the place.

This was a very unassuming and nice stop for breakfast near the waterfront. The wait staff was very friendly and even offered us suggestions. Food was delicious to say the least, especially their scones!

Cute little cafe tucked away at the end of the prom. Great service and lunch was absolutely brilliant, super tasty. We had the Welsh Rarebit and posh fish finger butty which was a winner. Ordered a side of chips too and they were chunky.. better than chippy chips. Will be visiting again shortly. Highly recommend.
