Delicious beer at reasonable prices. The little garden at the back is great to relax. I found them much more welcoming to foreigners than other local pubs.
Small traditional old pub.full of characters.exerllant real ales. Very friendly locals and staff. Just need a lick of paint. Will go back.

Passed this place many times but never fancied it , heard a couple talking about it and decided to give it a go, And I'm glad we did, Dont expect wall to wall luxury but you can expect , a friendly welcome, good beer and some good characters who all seem to know and look after each other but are still friendly to strangers. Landlord is a bloke from Cologne and was helpful choosing my first Ale.We had a few beers but had to leave to be elsewhere but we will be returning. It won't suit everyone but we enjoyed the jukebox entertainment. Thanks for a experience
fantastic, freindly, well informed staff. a veritable pick and mix for real ale fans and a forever changing menu! not just for the ale enthusiast, an amazingly freindly atmosphere, a lovely hidden garden/yard with well kept benches for smokers or anyone else who wants a quiet space (and the two sides of the building also create a busy and a quieter side). feels like a safe sort of place, have been popping in for years and hopefully years to come
A proper old school pub that has somehow escaped redevelopment. Friendly, quirky, and reasonably priced. Just sat here enjoying a decent pint for £3.00 and there is a mild for £2.80. Astonishing for a town centre. Not a place to go if you dislike ‘colourful’ language though.
