   Great pub on the Mersey with fantastic views from large beer garden. Very popular with walkers and cyclists on the Trans Pennine trail / Sankey Valley, as well as locals. Usually at least 6 real ales, and 20 when there's a beer festival on. Food limited to warm pies and snacks, with various food vans on a Friday and other events ( check website / Facebook for up to date details). Bar has flood level markers from flooding over the years

   Did a 12 miles round walk to come for a pint and stayed for a few. Proper old pub with great views and good beer garden. Very quick and friendly service with plenty of staff. Great value. £4.90 for a pint of Camden Hells which is very rare these days especially for someone as nice as this. One of the best pubs I have been to.

   Such a great place to call in for a Pie & a Pint if you’re walking the Trans Pennine Trail. The choice of cask ales is pretty incredible for such a remote pub. Well worth visiting.

   We went for the Foodie Friday. About 300 people there and was the burger week. The service at the tavern was great. A long queue outside the building (20 minutes for drinks) but was as fast as possible given the amount of people and the bar staff were really good. However, the foodie Friday was done by an outsourced company (by Above and Beyond) and the service was AWFUL!!! I’m giving the tavern full makes for their service given the volume of people, but the take away company deserved 0. The staff and chefs were lovely and I do value their apologies and service but food order were over 2 hours wait and many people were coming to refund their food before even getting it, so i’m blaming this on the company rather than the pub itself. There was no system to the orders and people were getting annoyed and frustrated. It took 20 minutes for them to take my order AND there was ONLY 4 people in the queue before me each only ordering 2 burger each, never mind the fact that the wait was a huge pain. Overall, the Tavern is great but if you do go for foodie Friday turn up AT THE EARLIEST TIME to get serviced (as it might take up to 2 hours to get your food).

   Stopped off for quick pint of Guinness whilst out on bike, very good pint. Tempted to have more of the black stuff, but had a good few miles home. Staff friendly, great location, big beer garden, good choice of ales. If I lived closer to this place I'd deffo visit a lot more.

   Great place to go after a walk or while on a walk . Or a bike ride. Great views of the river Merseys and Moor nature reserve. Great selection of real ales at a good price. They sell pies throughout the day Great place for dog walkers. Very dog friendly. Great place to relax in the sun an have a pint or three.

   Really nice place to get a good beer and great food. The atmosphere is really pleasant and makes the experience even more enjoyable. The staff are helpful, friendly and quick with service. There is more than enough seating even on a busy day. I enjoyed my time here and would definitely recommend visiting this location. I would recommend looking for the flood level signs on the bar as well.
